Fleeting Flute Song

Chapter 1

          Venti's POV:

The sun shone onto the mildew covered grass on the lawn, students laying about and talking to friends, and couples sitting on the steps whispering sweet nothings to each other.

I wove through the front lawn of Teyvat university, with pop music blasting through my headphones and a hop to my step.

*I just need to get to the hall, then I can go to my locker and meet up with Aether and Lumine.* Deep in thought, I accidentally collide with someone's back.

"Oof- sorry miste- o-oh Sir sorry about that. I didn't see ya there."

I had just bumped into my history teacher, Mr. Zhongli.

"Thats's all right, Venti. Please watch you're going though."
"Yes, Sir!"

Oh no I'm going to be late. Can't go meet up with the twins now. :(

As I walk into class and to my desk, the twins walk in and spot me. They both flank to my side, and immediately start talking.

"Venti! Ventiiii! Did you hear???"
"Hear what?"
"There's a new student coming in today! And in the middle of the semester no less!"

Aether stays quiet, and we hush when our teacher walks in. Ms. Lisa clapped her hands twice, and all our attention is focused to the front of the class.

"Good morning, class! Today is a very busy day, and we will be making use of the length of class today. As you know, we are going over Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare, so we will be continuing with that. However before we begin, we have a new student joining us."

She turns towards the door and opens it. "Sir, you can come in now."

With that, Mr. Zhongli walks in. He scans the room, and his eyes land on me for a split second before he begins speaking.

Am I in trouble?

"Class 1-A. Please pay attention. As Ms. Lisa has explained, you have a new student joining you." "Xiao, you can come inside now."

"This is Xiao. He's an art major, and has been homeschooled until now."

Ms. Lisa speaks, "Xiao, may you please introduce yourself to the class?"

The boy with dark blue hair and teal highlights looks up at Mr. Zhongli, as if looking for permission.

He nods, and smiles down at the boy.

"My name... is Xiao. I like art I guess. My favourite food is almond tofu."

         Xiao's POV

This sucks. A new school. I don't want to be here- no I can't be here. Too many new people.

Dad says it'll be good, and that I will feel better.

I zone out, for a bit, bored.

"Xia-"
"Xiao-"
"Xiao??"

I jolt upright, noticing that Ms. Lisa stopped talking and Dad is staring at me intently with a frown.

"Sorry."
"That's alright, Xiao."
