Narrator's POV
Near the large dark oak office desk sat Melody and Seokjin. In front of them, behind the desk, stood Seokjin's father, Zeus.
Zeus was already standing when they marched in. He seemed very tense and nervous, he was pacing back and forth. He demanded that Melody and Seokjin sit and listen carefully.
Seokjin was a nervous wreck by the time they made it to the office and when he saw his dad that was tense as well, he just wanted to crumble up into a ball and never know the truth. What could be so bad, that even his father was nervous? Deep down he hoped it wouldn't be that bad, that it wouldn't change his whole life.
"...and so you have 100 days to decide if you want to stay here. If not, you will be returned to earth and live your life there, without Seokjin, however, if you leave, Seokjin will never find a lover again, and neither will you."
When Melody heard that last sentence, chills ran down her spine. She was sad, terrified, and even mad. Why did the universe have to pick her! She's been through enough already. How can she leave everything she created for herself down on earth for love? This wasn't fair to her, nor was it fair to Seokjin.
Seokjin was thinking the same thing. How could he leave all he had with Jieun for some mortal? Why did his father need to betray the fate goddess? He didn't do anything, why was he paying the price of his father's mistakes?
"What? Dad, you can't be serious, this is-," "Don't argue. It is what it is. Leave now, I have work to do." Zeus demanded, his voice held so much power that not even his son could say a word after him.
They both numbly stood up and left the office. When Seokjin closed the office door, they stood there for a second, staring at the ground, thinking. Seokjin was the first to look up. He saw Melody, he saw her tears. He understood her. Even though they didn't know anything about each other, he could still feel for her. Without saying a word, Seokjin gently took Melody's hand and lead her to the back garden. Melody was surprised by the action, to say the least. She wiped her tears and tried to be as quiet as possible, hoping he didn't notice how she was staring at him. She knew he wouldn't be so pleased when hearing how she got here.
They sat down in a corner, on a bench, that was just as fancy as the rest of this whole mansion. There wasn't a single soul around, it was so peaceful here. They were surrounded by bushes and flowers. The flowers glistened when the sun shined just at a right angle. It was magical.
Seokjin let go of her hand, sat down on the opposite side of the bench, and started looking into the garden, noticing every little bird that was flying by. For a long moment, a bird flew on top of a rose and was smelling the flower. Oh, how he wished at that moment he could be that bird. So free, nothing to stop him from enjoying life. The bird flew away a second later.
They sat in silence for about an hour, just letting one another think. They both appreciated that the other didn't push them to talk. It was nice.
"I, uh, I am sorry that you are tangled in this mess," Seokjin whispered, not looking up to glance at Melody.
Melody was surprised to see the confident man apologize. She could feel the awkwardness that was starting to grow from this.
"It isn't your fault. But um, since I'll be here for a while, you should know how I got here." Melody said finally looking up. She stared at his side profile, the chiseled jaw, plum lips. Maybe this wasn't as bad. Stuck here with a handsome man that you're supposedly destined to fall in love with.
Seokjin was leaning into his knees holding his head with his hands. He seemed sad. He nodded for her to continue.
"I was actually an idol back on Earth," Melody smiled, "and, when I was training, I used to come to your statue to calm down and think, it helped a lot, I felt at peace, and I guess now I know why," She let out a breathy laugh, " Anyhow, I went there after one of my concerts and there was this legend going around that if the statue's soulmate touches his hand, the statue will come alive."
Seokjin snickered. He finally looked up to take a glance at Melody, however, she was once again staring down at her hands. He could see she felt guilty. Her hands were trembling and she was fidgeting. He wanted to calm her down. He didn't understand this sudden urge to be friendly to her, however, he wasn't fighting it. He wanted to be brave and take her hand, and say that it isn't her fault, but he let her finish.
"And, as you can guess, I took your statue's hand that night. I didn't think anything would happen. However, my head started banging, and I can't remember anything from there. And I know that sounds dumb and stupid, but you know, I heard it from my friends, and they like to prank me a lot so..."
"It's okay." Was what Seokjin said. He was still gazing at her, longing for her to look up and lock eyes with him.
"I know I know, it's dum-. Wait, what?" She turned to look at him. She was surprised. Melody expected him to yell and be mad at her. She was certain it was her fault that she was even here to begin with and that Seokjin and her were tangled in this mess.
This was the moment Seokjin tried to convince her with his eyes. He was trying his hardest to make his stare believable.
"I said it's okay" He slowly let out. His look was genuine. "I mean I don't think you wanted to be in this situation so I don't really think you did this on purpose." He side-smiled. He was thinking about the story she just told him.
"I didn't," Melody smiled back. She now felt at least a little bit more at ease. His eyes were the reason as to why. Melody started feeling shy all of a sudden, laying her eyes back to her interesting palms.
"Okay, now I'm gonna head out, I need to meet up with someone. You can go to my room or I could send you one of my friends to show you around this place. Whichever you would prefer tell me now, and make it quick." Seokjin said cheerfully standing up. Melody was taken aback, she really felt like they shared something, but here he was leaving her by herself. It seemed as if they didn't even have this heartwarming moment just now.
"Oh, well, can't you show me around? I mean, I am your alleged soulmate so it would be nic-" Melody stood up and walked in front of Seokjin.
"No, I can not. I've noticed you like to ramble a lot. Have you made your choice?" Seokjin said slowly turning and walking away. He was walking slowly to hear her answer, but fast enough to get away from her.
"Well, I still would prefer for you to show me a-" Mel tried to make Seokjin understand, following him.
"I said that I cannot please this request, and therefore, since you can't seem to pick, I'll choose for you, " Seokjin continued walking, taking out his phone.
"Oh, I can pick for myself, it will just be weird to see this place with someone-" Mel continued to follow Seokjin, keeping her distance, but near enough for him to hear her. The space between them kept getting bigger and bigger until they could barely hear one another.
"Stay here, my friend will come shortly and he'll show you around! He's nice, so don't worry too much. Bye!" Seokjin yelled since he was quite far away, putting his phone away and walking off till Melody couldn't see him anymore.
Melody walked back to the bench and sat back down. This didn't feel right to her. She had left everything on earth and here he was already leaving her.
She put her hand on her jacket, searching for her phone. She couldn't feel anything hard in her pocket so she started frantically searching. She took off her jacket leaving herself in only sweatpants and a t-shirt. Melody shook the jacket back and forth until-
"Searching for something?" A deep, angelic voice called out near her.
She turned around scared only to be met with familiar dark brown eyes she'd grown to love a long time ago.
"Teahyung?"
