Bowling

There was a certain moment in my day today where it felt like everything stopped. Like the problems I was facing outside of this weren't real. A moment in my day where I felt like I was melting away, mindlessly aware of everything going on at that second. From the way his hair was parted to the cool feeling of the air conditioning the bowling alley had. This one moment in reality was actually an hour of knocking pins over and congratulating each others successes. It was bitter sweet for the first thirty minutes because all I could think about was how sad I would be when it ended. That disheartening thought is my excuse for how bad I was doing. I was really struggling and a few moments I was even incredibly jealous of his skill. I mean sure they weren't strikes every single time. But at least three times they were and in those three times I felt great pride in knowing that was my boy hitting those.

It was the way he turned around after seeing he hit one. He was proud of himself, anyone could see that. But he still seemed to look to me for validation as if he expected me to not care. But I probably cared too much. His smile in those moments were everything. A little snapshot in my mind that I will keep

Forever.

Soon, the last 5 minutes of our hour of bowling rolled around and when the lights dimmed, the whole alley changed to a surreal atmosphere. Black lights turned on and everything started to glow. He started to get a little more...reckless. Between making the public kisses a little more sweeter and throwing the bowling ball a little harder due to the rush of the last 5 minutes. The music played louder than before and it all just made me feel like my world was spinning.

I wouldn't have chosen anyone else to be with me that day... and I hope this inclination towards him, this infectious thing called love, never changes, never fades, never alters, never dies. For that moment wouldn't be bitter sweet as it would only be bitter...

Yours faithfully,

-Sharon
