Nuktah stared at his reflection in a small stream near the jakuts clearing. He wore loose clothing made from the thick skin of a dragon. He chuckled to himself as he remembered he had been flying naked through space before he had arrived at this planet. It had been a month since he started living among the jakuts. He now understood their language completely and was able to communicate with them. The first day after his arrival at their settlement he had flown around the planet and encountered various other tribes and settlements ; some more advanced than others . They had all treated him as a god and with deference. He helped out the various tribes where he could. He helped them construct shelters, protected them from predators. He had saved an entire eco system from a volcanoes eruption and even assisted the tribesmen there in migrating to a better settlement. He even shared some of the advancements he had witnessed amongst certain tribes with others to help them grow. Slowly various legends about nuktah had began to spread. Some of these legends would be told for countless generations. Perhaps it was because he encountered the jakuts first but he had grown fond of their tribe and had been living among them. The jakuts were a simple people.
Everyone in the tribe had a role. Those who where too old educated the young ones teaching them how to defend themselves, craft weapons and every other thing they needed to know. The warriors hunted for food and protected the tribe. Some of the tribe prepared food for the others , some were scouts, others gathered things like wood, herbs and other resources the tribe used.
Hunting for food was one of the most dangerous jobs in the tribe because of some dangerous species of beasts that roamed their Jurassic world. The dragon nuktah had killed was one of the most dangerous predators. Usually when warriors encountered them it meant death. From the river nuktah could hear toruk organizing the hunting party to get more food.

Over the past month he had explored the limits of his abilities. He could see even objects at the edge of the horizon very clearly and with his hearing he could hear the heartbeat of every creature for miles. He could even hear the smallest insects flying around or crawling on the floor of the forest. The hunting party would be gone for at least an entire day so he flew back to the tribe to see them off with the rest of the tribe. Since his arrival before the hunting party would leave to find food they would seek him out to ask for his favor. It had become a belief of theirs that as long as nuktah gave his blessings the hunting party would be successful. Nuktah had offered to take on the role of the hunting party and gather food for the tribe. With his abilities it would only take him a minute to hunt suitable prey and return to the tribe. Toruk and the jakuts had refused. They had treated the idea of their god going through the trouble of hunting as blasphemy. Nuktah obliged to them and helped them in other areas he could. As he landed in the settlement many of the children approached him. The children had grown fond of him. He had earned their complete admiration as he often played with them and had taken some flying on various occasions. The children gave way when the hunting party approached led by toruk. Toruk and the other hunters bowed to nuktah then toruk spoke _“ great nuktah we depart for the hunt” _ . Nuktah hesitated for a second then replied _ “ go I shall await your return” _ . Almost immediately toruk and the other warriors departed. As they left the settlement nuktah stared upwards. To anyone else he was looking at the sky but what attracted his attention wasn’t the sky but way beyond it. Even though he had spent a while amongst the jakuts and had come to care for them in some way he still felt a strong yearning to continue on his journey wherever it was leading him. He discarded the desire for now.
Evening came. The hunting party had already traveled a few kilometers and found a suitable hunting ground. Back at the settlement the children were gathered around an elder narrating a tale to them. Nuktah stood at the peak of the mountain watching them; his eyes then went upwards looking at the sky. This time however, he wasn’t looking to the distance he always felt pulled towards. He looked at a star in the distance or at least what looked like a star. Since his arrival on the planet nuktah had noticed a certain star getting brighter and brighter every night. It had been too far away to tell what it was but now it was close enough that he could tell what it was. To any of the jakuts or other creatures on the planet it would only resemble an inconspicuous star, perhaps brighter than other stars but nuktah could see it for what it really was. It was a huge meteor at least a dozen kilometers in diameter and it was heading towards the planet.
In a few seconds nuktah was in the planets atmosphere staring at the meteor. Judging by how fast it was going nuktah guessed it would take a week at most before it impacted the planet. He had to act now, he could tell if the asteroid hit it would kill most or all of the planets inhabitants. The jakuts already thought he was a god. While he wasn’t sure who or what he was a single question rummaged through his mind: “ could a god stop an asteroid?”
