Taehyung coughed loudly and I diverted my gaze away from him. I feel like I'm burning up, shit.

Hopefully, I'm not.

'Ah, I'm sorry for dropping your suitcase! I guess I wasn't as strong as I thought I was...' I looked down at the floor.

'It's okay, don't worry.' He smiled warmly at me. 'Don't hurt your hand anymore, let me do it.'

'No!' I objected almost immediately, even shocking myself when I replied so quickly. 'I mean, like, let me. You know, 'cause you're new?'

'No thank you, I don't want you to hurt your hand doing this.'

I blinked. 'Are you sure? I think I can still-'

'Song Hye-ah, no.' Taehyung said firmly. He then returned to the landing to move the suitcase up the flight of stairs, completely disregarding me or what I was saying.

It was extremely odd to hear someone say my name like that, especially a total stranger.

'Bu-'

'It's okay, I will find you when I'm done.' He intercepted.

'How?'

'I will try to find you, then.'

'I-'

'It's alright, let me take my own bags upstairs, this shouldn't be your job.'

Thanks?

And so, he just left me, standing all alone in the stairwell.

- time skip -

I was opening up my school bag to get ready for my lessons in the afternoon when a teacher knocked on my door and told me to go downstairs to find someone who needed me.

Bringing my bag down with me, I saw Taehyung standing by himself next to the entrance. 'What's up? Did you get all your bags up by yourself?' I folded my arms.

'Got it done in less than 10 minutes, not sure why you were so worried.' Taehyung shrugged. 'Anyway, the teacher told me that we have lots of time before the afternoon lessons so I was wondering if you could show me around the school before I came back here to unpack my things.'

'Hmm...' I checked the clock above us. 'I think we'll make it to lessons in time. I'll also show you the classrooms, so you know where to go after lunch.'

'Thank you so much, Song Hye.' Taehyung smiled warmly.

'Of course, you are Ji A's brother after all.' I replied offhandedly.

I led Taehyung to the main campus and through all the subject departments. Through all the old corridors, modern science labs and the new classrooms.

'Why are the departments so oddly spaced out?' Taehyung asked curiously as we walked through one hall.

'Honestly, I don't even know. You'd expect the language departments to be close together but somehow Chinese and German are just that far apart! You know?' I laughed nervously, trying to break the ice.

Dead silence.

Each of our footsteps led to creaks on the ancient wooden floorboards.

Squeak.

SQueak.

SquEAk.

I hate this.

This is hell.

Then, all of a sudden Taehyung started to laugh too. Did it just click or-?

'Song Hye-ah,' he regarded me endearingly, stopping in his steps as we got to the main entrance of the school. 'Thank you for taking me around, I'm still a little confused but I think I have a better idea now. Thank you.' He nodded and then his head started dropping downwards.

Don't tell me he was going to bow to me.

As he did, I looked away, laughing? Smiling? This seemed like the most ridiculous and awkward thing ever.

'It's alright!' I frowned and spoke. 'Get up! It's okay!'

'I just wanted to show you my gratitude.' And Taehyung flashed a gummy smile, which I returned by baring my teeth a little, some smile that was.

I looked up at the big clock in the 'You're very welcome. Make sure you text Ji A and tell her you've just checked out the school. I'm sure she'll be happy to help you with anything else after school.'

'I will. Thank you again, Cha Song Hye. Goodbye, see you.' Taehyung waved at me, stepping backwards as he headed off to- what was it... English?

'Wrong corridor, Taehyung!' I shouted down the empty corridor. 'This way!'

'I guess my 'goodbye' didn't last for long, huh?' He chuckled as he walked back, quickening his pace. I just couldn't help but laugh at him a little bit.

You are quite funny.

I guess.

'Come on, English is this way.' I told him, hugging my books closer to myself.
