"You have everything you need?"

"Enough to get by," Caeden answered, zipping up one of the final duffel bags before he tossed it into the bed of a stolen red pickup truck. I tipped my head to glance around him at the bag as it thunked against metal. "We're low on ammo, but we'll make do."

"I'm headed out on a supply run today. I'll see what I can scrounge up, but I'm not too worried about you having to open fire on a rugaru."

Caeden turned to stare at me over his shoulder, his thick brows and lips pulled into a tight line giving him a glaring look. "Are you patched up enough for a run?"

"Sasha seems to think I'll be alright, 's long as I don't shift," I answered with a shrug and placed my hands on my hips. "Besides, the Winchesters, Sasha and a couple others are coming with me. They'll keep my head on straight." Caeden twisted to stare back in the direction of the camp, towards where the Impala lay. He no longer argued over my involvement with them – hell, I think maybe he trusted them, just a bit. That, or he trusted my judgment more than he was willing to let on.

"Just stay safe," he answered with a pat to my shoulder and then turned away and marched to the front of the truck. I chuckled lightly and peered around the red pick-up, watching him speak in a hushed tone to Rue, her tightly curled, thick hair done up in a high ponytail. She stared past him with a hardened stare, watching as the others approached. She reminded me of Caeden when he first joined the pack – cold and stoic.

My lips curled up in a grin and I pivoted to walk back towards the camp. I drew Dean's old coat tighter around me, one of my few favorite clothing pieces that had made it out of the disastrous end to my home. The chilly morning bit into my skin, goosebumps rising along my flesh. I hunched against the gentle wind and trudged over uneven ground, watching my footing far more carefully than I had in the past.

I smiled at those I passed who were curious enough to make eye contact. Children waved, some sheepishly and some enthusiastically. It was clear which ones belonged to the parents that were still wary of me. I waved nonetheless and paused every once in a while to speak softly to my pack members.

They were guarded, but some were quite welcoming. I like to think they were beginning to learn that I had the best intentions for them. From what I knew of Braxton's leadership, I knew it would take more than a few kind words and a budding town to earn their trust. I needed to show that I was willing to protect them. Perhaps getting back into the field was just the way to do that.

"Morning," I heard Sam's familiar voice call, and I jerked my head up to meet his gaze. A warm smile spread across my face, cheeks dusting with pink at the sight of he and Dean leaning against the side of the Impala. Dean's eyes didn't leave mine as he lifted a to-go cup of coffee to his lips.

"Finally found the instant in the kitchen?" I asked with a gesture towards his cup. He finally lowered the cup and I couldn't tear my eyes away as his tongue swiped over his lips.

"Needed it, Sam snores," he answered gruffly, voice gravelly from sleep. My heart pattered faster for a brief moment. Sam scoffed and shoved his brother in the shoulder, who shoved back just a bit harder with a glare and two hands firmly on his coffee.

"If anyone snores, it's you, Dean," Sam teased, burying his hands in his pockets as he glared playfully down at his brother. Dean shrugged and took another sip of his coffee, green eyes flicking briefly to mine. "So what's the plan?" he asked, turning back towards me.

I checked the watch wrapped tightly around my wrist. "Sasha and the others should be here soon. We just need a few things from town – the Helms' brothers are going to drive a pickup each, should be enough to load everything we need." I planted my hands on my hips and tapped my foot against the rough earth. "We need more supplies for shelters. Runs out fast. Might need more instant coffee, too," I said with a teasing smirk.
