“I remembered years ago where we first met below our tree, your name and mine was engraved on its trunk and it made the tree full of life.” Travis said softly.
It was the end of a warm summer at Canada and golden brown leaves start to fall. Smooth air breezes gently as a new season began. Katie Jackson, a very attractive lady with fair and white complexion, just moved in the neighbourhood with her family. As she stepped out of the car, she saw a man who seems to be looking at her. Katie looked closer and noticed those familiar wide dazzling eyes and shiny blonde hair. He’s Travis Grey, son of a wealthy businessman but despite the fact that his family lives a life of luxury, he’s shy and quiet. Travis sees the lonesome park in the corner of their village as peaceful and calm, a place he wants to be.
One lazy Saturday afternoon, Katie passed through the park and saw Travis below the big, old tree, reading a book.
Then Katie approached him, “Hi! I’m Katie and I’m new to this village. I saw you before staring at me when my family and I first moved here.”
Travis was nervous because he’s not used socializing with other people and so he said with a trembling voice, “I was amazed by your beauty and by the way, I’m Travis.” Katie taught Travis was as sweet yet scared.
With her soft and gentle voice, she said “Don’t be afraid, I can be your friend.”
Travis felt her warm tone and therefore, their conversation went smoothly. They laughed, talked and felt comfortable with one another. They realized that they study in the same school near their village and had lots in common. They felt close and tight as if they met before. Days passed and they see each other often in the park where chaos finds its peace.
Few years ago, a humid and blistering atmosphere was felt by Travis and his mother as they were driving on a smooth road to visit an old friend. On their way home, his mother lost track on the road as the fuel starts to decrease afterwards, a rushing truck came and hit the both of them. It was a tragic accident that leads to Travis’ memory loss and sadly, his mom’s death too. It was a mystery why they loss fuel if Travis just filled the tank before they left. Travis woke up without knowing anything and doctors said that his memory might come back after years. They were unsure on how long it would take for him to recover but one thing the doctors said is to have patience and faith. When Katie heard this story she trembled with fear and she doesn’t exactly know the reason why.
Katie also has a dreadful past, she fell in love with her best friend yet the mom of her lover doesn’t agree. The mom said terrible insults to Katie and this made her weak. The mom even block-mailed and threatened her. She told Katie that if she doesn’t stay away from Marcus, then she’ll surprisingly show up to Katie one day and give her a punishment she will remember. Katie was terrified yet he believed in Marcus that this won’t happen but it did. Marcus’ mom, Rebecca, showed up on the streets as Katie was going home from school. Rebecca kidnapped her and brought her to dark and creepy warehouse where she was tied on a chair. As Katie opened her eyes, she saw Rebecca staring at her and holding a wood; she first tried spanking Katie’s legs and started warning her about what might happen next. After that night Katie mourned and broke up with Marcus.
Marcus, Katie’s ex-lover, tried to risk everything just to be with the girl he loves but he chose his family rather than Katie. Marcus explained to her that he loves her so much but he was to choose between her and his family. Afterwards, Marcus and his family moved out of California and never had contact with each other.
Days turned into weeks and Travis started to wonder that Katie’s face looks familiar. Some of his memory about the girl he was crazy about before started to appear on his mind.
A sunny morning came when Travis and Katie began to talk below the bushy tree. Travis got a stick and wrote their names on the trunk of the tree. Katie said it was beautiful and made the tree special with their names engraved on it. Travis asked if she would want to have lunch with his family in their home and Katie agreed to come. As they were about to enter the house, Katie felt nervous yet Travis encouraged her that his family will like her because he have told stories about her to his dad and siblings. As the doors opened, Travis’ dad greeted her warm welcome and led her to the dining table where they ate lunch. While eating, Travis’ family got to know more about Katie and they started to like her. As Katie entered Travis’ room, she saw lots of picture frame of him and his mom, Christine Rebecca Grey and she noticed that face looked exactly as Marcus’ mom.
Katie said as she was pointing at the picture, “I know her, she’s Marcus’ mom!”
Travis was shocked with disbelief and said that it was her mom and not Marcus’. They stopped for a moment and realized that their questions about the past have been answered right now.
Travis said, “I’ve remembered almost everything right now, my mom called me a different name before and I also fell in love with my beautiful best friend who I protected from my mom. My mom was threatening her that if she wouldn’t stay away, she’ll give her something she won’t forget and because I love her, I stood up for her, I even almost spanked my mom with a wood that I was holding.”
Katie’s eyes started to widen as if her questions from the past were answered and she asked, “why does your mom hates the one you love?”
Travis answered, “My mom hated her because her family only has a poor business and my mom even said that she’s just using us for money yet I disagree with that because I loved that girl.”
Katie was shocked because she realized that everything Travis said was also connected to her story and so she confessed to him that she was involved in an accident before. After Katie was kidnapped by Rebecca she planned to get her revenge on her. Katie invited Rebecca to her home to clear things up and to solve the problem she is causing. On that day, she was surprised that Marcus was with Rebecca and so the three of them talked. Rebecca decided that the Greys will move out to Canada and start a new life there. Katie was depressed because she doesn’t want Marcus to leave and so she took most of their car’s fuel quietly as Marcus and Rebecca is leaving the house. Then she heard about the news on what happened and she decided to hide and keep quiet. Investigators haven’t found out because Rebecca told no one except for Marcus that they were going to go to Katie’s house.
After hearing that story, Travis reacted and remembered something, “I remembered my name before was Marcus but after the incident my dad said that my name was Travis. I also remember the girl I love; her name is Mary Katie Holmes.”
Katie said, “You missed something, it’s Mary Katie Holmes Jackson. Marcus it’s me Katie, the girl you loved!”
Travis said, “Katie, your beautiful smile, your rosy cheeks and your sparkling eyes makes you special. Remember that?”
“Yes, I’ve remembered that.”
“You know that I love you but you killed my mom and made me suffer like this.”
“I just don’t want you to leave me alone here, I know what I’ve done is wrong and I’m sorry.”
“You think that everything will be fine with just one sorry? You killed my mom and my family suffered because of what you’ve done. You should’ve waited because I was going to return for you.”
“I love you.”
It was officially sealed with an “I love you”, Katie accepted her sin and faced her consequence. Therefore, she was imprisoned for two years. She finally realized the mistake she have done. She returned home and her family accepted her whole heartedly and Marcus Travis Grey finally forgave her and asked if she would marry him. Katie answered her sweet yes and they lived a normal life without guilt. They were married below a tree with golden brown leaves where their names where engraved on its trunk. It was autumn by then.
