"Mr. Green would you kindly stop disrupting the class?" The teacher's voice rang loud and clear across the room. I looked down at my desk, where a piece of paper thrown by Jacob Green sat. I carefully picked it up and read it as the teacher continued her lecture about Shakspeare.
"Freak," it read in messy handwriting across the top. I looked over at Jacob, who glared at me. A hand was placed on mine and I turned to see my best friend, Allyson (her hair-bright pink-standing out extremely well), looking at me with concern. She handed me a piece of paper with her writing on top. "Are you ok Alex?" I respond, "yeah, I'm fine." She looks at me, clearly not buying it. I ignore her for now, returning to my notes for English. After class Allyson and I started towards Island Park. We went to a high school in Fargo, ND that was similar to boarding school and we each had dorms near our other friends. We started going to this school as freshmen, when I was trying to get away from the people in our old home of Portland, Oregon and keep my secret.
"You need to stop letting Jacob pick on you all the time! He doesn't have a right to!" Allyson said angrily.
"Look, Ally, I don't care about him. He can pick on me all he wants and it won't change a thing! Besides, I can't do anything and you know why," I tell her. It's true though, I can't do anything. He may be my bully, but he's also my cousin. And the only person other than my parents and Ally that knows my secret. He constantly uses this to his advantage, dangling it over my head whenever I stand up to him. Allyson rolled her eyes, but recognizes a lost cause in a conversation. We sit on the gazebo steps, watching the kids playing on the play ground. A few elderly couples smiled at us as they passed, clearly thinking we were dating. Allyson laughed.
"It's so weird that they think we're dating all the time," she said, voicing my thoughts. We had been friends since we were really little, and she was one of the first people to know about me being gay. It's no secret now, and that's why our other friends think Jacob hates me. That's only half the reason though. I sigh.
"We should probably start walking back to class," I tell her, standing up. "Sure."
We head back to the school, talking about random things and avoiding the topic of Jacob all together. We arrive back at school and I wave as we part ways. She heads off to science and I go to the boys' dorms to start on my homework. When I first started school here, I put in a request for a private room. Luckily, I managed to get the last one. I reach my room and lock my door. Groaning, I realize the time. I take a quick shower, then go to my dresser for clean clothes, my short brown hair dripping water everywhere. Then remembering my doctor's instructions, remove my binder and change it for a normal bra (ugh!). Oh yeah, that's my secret. I'm transgender.Hey! Thanks for reading this chapter! I'm not sure if I'm gonna continue this story, it was just an idea I had a few days ago. Let me know what you think? Love ya!
