Game Over?
Chapter Three: The First Assignment
"It's not the money that counts, it's the love... But money is very nice, too."
"HEY! HEY THERE! RISE AND SHINE!"
"UGH!" What is that?!
Riley cracked open his eyes... Oh, Arceus, that sun! ... Only to shut them once more. "Why're you still ASLEEP?! WAKE UP!"
"M-my ears..." Shin complained.
"C'mon! Snap OUT of it!" the voice yelled. It sounded an awful lot like the one who let them in yesterday. "I'm Loudred! And I'm a fellow apprentice!"
Shin's head was pounding. "Apprentice? For what?"
"If you're late for our morning briefing, you'll be SORRY! So MOVE it! Guild master Wigglytuff has got a BIG temper. If you make him lose it... SCARY!" Loudred stomped his feet.
Shin curled himself into a ball, scooting closer to his heat source. Riley. "Okay, okay... Scary... Let's go back to sleep..."
Riley turned so that his back faced the window. "What the hell are you on, man?" Could you even get high on stuff in the Pokemon world?
Loudred ignored them both. "SO ANYWAY... I'm not about to get in trouble because you rookies were LATE! SO GET IT IN GEAR!"
Shin held his ears and rolled even closer to Riley. "Oh, my ears... are still... ringing..."
Riley sat up, but leaned back down immediately because it was so cold. "What did he say?"
"Something about getting ready, I think?"
There was a moment of silence as both teens pondered what Loudred had said. Obviously, Shin remembered first.
"Wait, er... Oh, yeah!" Suddenly, the blue haired teen jumped up. "C'mon! We're gonna be late!"
"Gimme a minute!" Riley protested, almost reaching up to yank his friend back down. Why? He had no idea. "I can't see anything 'cause of that god damn sun!"
"Well, that doesn't matter!" Shin grabbed Riley's arm and tugged. "Up!"

Riley's eyes were still shut tight as Loudred hashed them out.
"You're LATE, rookies!" he screeched. "How can you even STAY ASLEEP for so LONG?"
Chatot was there, too, apparently. "Hush! Your voice is ridiculously loud!"
"Hmph..." Riley heard Loudred pout. He wanted to say, "Ha! In your face!" but restrained himself. After all, he still was refusing to open his eyes. And he didn't know what the Pokemon looked like (if he chose to open his eyes, which wasn't happening anytime soon).
Shin poked him in the back. "Riley, open your eyes! Look at all these exploration apprentices."
"No..." Riley moaned. It was just-that sun! It hurt his eyes to look at it. "Shin, it's the sun. I can't take that sun..."
"Eeek! Ohmigosh!" There was a quiet cry from right next to Riley. "Look at the new recruits! They are so adorable!"
Shin? Riley wondered. Me?
A bell chimed. "Yes, they are so cute!"
Shin poked him in the back again. "What, Shin?"
"Did you hear that?" his friend asked.
