True Love: A Miraculous Ladybug Fanfic

Chapter 1: The Big Reveal

The battle was on. Ladybug ran as fast as she could away from the Eiffel Tower, which had just started to topple over. Cat Noir, her trusty superhero companion, was by her side. Other superheroes, including Rena Rouge, Carapace and Bunnix, were following close behind. They were fighting Hawk Moth and Mayura yet again, and Ladybug and Cat Noir needed all the help they could get. Hawk Moth and Mayura had created a huge Sentimonster which was destroying everything it came into contact with.

"Carapace, we need a Shell-ter," Ladybug shouted to Carapace.

"You got it Ladybug," he replied.

He activated his superpower, and a large, green barrier was formed just as the Eiffel Tower was about to fall onto the heroes. Carapace's Shell-ter absorbed the shock of the Eiffel Tower falling, and kept the superheroes protected underneath the barrier.

"What are we going to do now?" Rena Rouge asked.

Ladybug usually remained calm and focused during a battle, but she was beginning to panic. This had been their most intense battle yet, and they had tried everything apart from Ladybug's Lucky Charm and Cat Noir's Cataclysm. Ladybug instructed everyone to quickly run out from under the Shell-ter, and once they were all out of the way, Carapace carefully removed the barrier, slowly lowering the Eiffel Tower to the ground. As soon as they were outside of the Shell-ter, Ladybug activated her Lucky Charm. The object that appeared was a superhero mask.

"A mask?" she wondered aloud, while inspecting the item that had just landed in her hands. "What am I supposed to do with this?"

She knew that whatever object the Lucky Charm created would have a meaning and represent something, but, for the first time, she couldn't think of any meaning behind this object. As the seconds went by, her panicking got more intense. She didn't have long before she transformed back!

"You silly little superheroes!" Hawk Moth shouted from his position on top of a nearby building. "Don't you see that you're cornered? You'll never get out of this one!" he laughed evilly.

Mayura was standing next to him, an accomplished expression on her face. There was nowhere for the heroes to run. Wherever they went, the Sentimonster would find them. Apart from Cat Noir, they had all used their superpowers, and nothing had worked so far. The Sentimonster was approaching them fast, and they couldn't outrun it.

"Surrender and give me your Miraculouses, or you will be history!" Hawk Moth cackled. The Sentimonster was about to crush them, and there was only one thing they could do.

"Cataclysm!" Cat Noir yelled. He touched the Sentimonster's foot, and the huge monster disintegrated before their eyes.

Hawk Moth was outraged. But then an evil smile crept across his face. "I have created so much destruction and fear that the whole of Paris is utterly terrified. I can Akumatize the whole of this city and create hundreds of Sentimonsters!" He sent hundreds of Akumas flying over Paris. Mayura then turned them into Sentimonsters with her Amoks, and they closed in on the heroes.

Ladybug didn't know what to do. Her earrings were flashing, indicating that she was about to transform back. Cat Noir's ring was flashing too, along with all the other heroes' Miraculouses. Hawk Moth let out a sinister laugh. He knew he had won this time.

"No, no, no!" Ladybug and Cat Noir cried as they watched all the other heroes transform back into their regular selves. They would follow in seconds!

Ladybug glanced again at the mask in her hands. She still couldn't think of a way to use it. She looked desperately at Cat Noir, then at the huge, looming Sentimonsters, which were inching towards them. She turned back to Cat Noir, before realizing she was starting to transform back! Cat Noir looked down at his superhero suit and realized he was transforming too. There was nothing they could do. Once they had finished transforming, they both stared at each other in complete disbelief. They were stunned. Cat Noir was really Adrien Agreste, the famous fashion model and Gabriel Agreste's son, and Ladybug was Marinette Dupain-Cheng, Adrien's friend and classmate! Suddenly, everything made sense.

Marinette had had a crush on Adrien for as long as she could remember, and Cat Noir was in love with Ladybug. However, Ladybug rejected Cat Noir's affections, and Adrien only considered Marinette a good friend. Since they had both thought that they had no chance of being with the ones they truly loved, Marinette had started dating Luka, who was her friend Juleka's brother, and Adrien had been dating Kagami, a Japanese student who had enrolled at Collège Françoise Dupont, Marinette and Adrien's school. But despite feeling happy in their relationships, something had been missing. And they both knew why they felt that way. Marinette longed to be with Adrien, and Cat Noir desperately wanted to be with Ladybug.

As they stared at each other in shock, all the little things that had happened in the past suddenly made sense. All the awkward moments between the two, the pictures of Adrien that Marinette had in her bedroom, the handwriting on Adrien's love note that looked just like Marinette's. It all fitted together like a puzzle. At that moment, Marinette realized that the Lucky Charm's message was that they needed to find out each other's identities. They needed to find out who was behind the mask.

Marinette was frozen in shock. Adrien knew what he had to do. He ran to Marinette and scooped her up in his arms.

"I love you Marinette," he whispered as he held her tightly in his arms.

Hawk Moth and Mayura were speechless. As Hawk Moth dropped his cane in astonishment, Marinette gazed up into Adrien's eyes.

"I love you too, Adrien."
