Chapter 5

(Abhay's POV)

I stared at myself in the mirror. What had I just done? I had turned the only girl I loved in my entire life into a monster. I stared at my guilt ridden face.

I had no choice. I couldn't let my Piya go away from me. I couldn't let her die. I was selfish. I needed her, and she needed me. She would be shocked when she finds out what I done to her. I remembered how I felt when I found out myself.

(Flashback)

I slowly opened my eyes. I was lying on a soft velvet bed. I couldn't remember how I got here. Was I planning to come here?

My neck hurt like hell. It felt like it was burning. My hand touched it, trying to relieve the pain. Images of a burning car flashed in my head. I remembered that the brakes failed and I swerved off the road. Whatever happened after that was cloudy.

Someone opened the door. It was another man, around my age. He smiled.

"Finally conscious. I thought I was too late."

I was confused.

"What are you talking about? What happened to me?"

"You had a car accident. Plunged off the side of a cliff. You were almost dead until I saved you." He walked inside the room.

"How?"

"Let me tell you something. My name is Sid. I'm a vampire. I bit you. Now you're a vampire as well." He said, casually.

"WHAT?!"

"Sorry...I guess I'm a little too straightforward."

(End of Flashback)

I took me awhile to digest this fact. Now I've been living like this for two years.....Sid and I were now best friends.

Sid tapped me on the shoulder. He looked concerned.

"I think Piya should have regained conscious ness by now. She can't dig out of that grave herself, you know."

"I was just leaving." I just wanted to see her again.

(Flashback)

I climbed into Piya's bedroom. It was dark and had an empty feeling to it. My Piya was lying in her bed, dying. I could only hear her faint heartbeats. She was dying. I rushed to her bedside. Piya was pale and weak. Anyone could tell she was very ill. I gently caressed her face. I still found her beautiful regardless....

Her condition worsened....and the thought of saving her came over and over. I couldn't heal her. I wasn't strong enough to do so. The only choice I had was to bite her. Turn her into a vampire. I gave her a goodnight kiss and left.

(Next Night..)

I finally decided to do it. I had to bite Piya. I overheard the doctor's conversation with Mr. Dobriyal and found that she wouldn't last the night. Nothing can be done to save her. I couldn't lose my Piya...not like this...

I jumped through her window into her room. She was lying there...just as I left her. I sat down next to her and stared at her.

"Do it Abhay...you have no choice..." My conscience told me.

I looked at Piya's neck. Her scent pulled me in, like a drug. I extended my fangs, ready to do the imaginable. I placed a small kiss on her neck, then bit down in the same place. Her warm blood flooded my mouth as I spread the venom into her system. Her pulse slowly grew weaker. The transition had started....

(End of Flashback)

I felt the pain inside. I couldn't imagine my Piya like this. But I have to stop thinking about that. The deed had been done...and all that mattered was that Piya was still here...still with me.

I went out into the forest towards the area where she was buried. I had watched from a distance when Mr.Dobriyal performed her burial rites. No one else was there but me, him, and the priest.

I was happy with the thought that I would soon get to hold my Piya in my arms again....
