October 31st.

Halloween.

Guinevere brushed her hair into waves the following morning as she idly wondered what caused the blackout the previous night.

Cassy had said it rarely ever happened and while Guinevere had vowed with her full chest not to get involved in whatever was happening, she had a feeling that she’d end up being forced into it.

The nemeton had apparently sent her a sort of… message that there was something happening, but she had no idea what was.

And Guinevere was no investigator.

She wasn’t going to go sniffing around this unknown town filled with so many secrets and crazy people.

As she got down the stairs, dressed in a white comfy long sleeved and turtle necked fitted sweater and a camel crepe check pinafore dress to her thighs, a black Louis Vuitton belt on her waist and black ankle length platform suede boots, she walked into the kitchen and saw Cassy there in her jogging outfit.

“Back from your jog?”

Cassy looked up from her cup of coffee and nodded.

“Hey doll. There’s still school with the blackout?”

She asked disbelievingly and Guinevere snorted.

“Well of course there is. It’s just a blackout. Think I should donate something from the ‘goodness’ of my heart?”

Cassy gave her a look.

“What goodness are you talking about? You twisted little girl.”

Guinevere chuckled as she finished her cereal and stood back up.

“Well I’m heading out now. See you later?”

“Depends… got a call early this morning. Barrow’s dead. He was found at the power station so he was probably the one who caused all this in the first place.”

Guinevere tilted her head.

Was his death connected?

“Well good for him that he’s dead then. I’m pretty sure a lot of people are cursing him out for their blackout.”

Cassy smirked.

“Not in this house though… my battery backup does wonders.”

Guinevere shook her head as she walked out the door.

“Your pride is showing dearest aunty.”

High School.

The hallway was slightly bustling, filled with students and slightly dark.

Guinevere could hear the coach’s voice screaming at people with a megaphone.
