"Do you believe in multi-universes?" Tossing
the hardcover book to the side. Irritated by the fact that he had to study for his next exam, which was scheduled for the upcoming Tuesday. On the weekends, he would usually either sleep in or go out with his friends— who knows what they were up to. Instead, he was hauled out of bed and taken into the public library after a specific person found out he was failing a particular course.
Now he rests his head on his arm, pouting while he waits for the other to respond or give him another scolding. "Stop distracting yourself and finish studying." He continues writing his notes into his spiral notebook without sparing an eye at the younger.
"I'm serious! And I'm not distracting myself." Acting insulted at their remark, he slouches upon the wooden-cushioned chair.
Releasing a loud sigh, he glances at the boy. Getting him to put down his worn-out pencil from his grip and adjust his glasses to get a better look. "If that's the case, I believe there's more out there than us and a universe. I mean if there's so many planets and stars above us, why not dimensions and universes? How else would you explain deja vu? There's so much out there that we haven't discovered, not even scientists. Like the ocean and space for example. Every moment of our lives and decision we make dissolves into infinite outcomes to our future selves that we're unaware of. A universe is infinite and when there's infinite there's multiple possibilities."
"It was a yes or no question, but ok." Rolling his eyes at his quite long response.
Scoffing he continues. "Ugh, then why even bother asking. Do you believe in it?"
"Psh, of course not. It's dumb and confusing, just thinking about it gives me a headache. Only someone so foolish would believe in stuff like that."
"Oh really? Then you wouldn't mind spending another hour in the library would you? I could use the extra hour to work on my other classes."
"Ugh, noo I want to go out already! I wanna see what the others are up to. They're probably having fun without me!"
"Well you better hurry up." Relieved, he can't help but smile at the sight of his brother-like friend scheming through the book he previously thrown to the side.
Not only was he relieved at the sight, but the thought of his other friends brought another curve to his face. For they were known for not giving a damn about what others thought of them. As long as they were all together in this timeline, nothing else mattered.
However, there is no such thing as freedom here. Not for long that is. Unless you're willing to pay the price.
