Griffin came into her house she was all muddy and her hair was an absolute rat's nest. When Griffin walked into the kitchen a gasp came from her brother, father, and stepmother Shelby "Griffin Taylor Smith, how on earth did you get like that. Young ladies are not supposed to come home to dinner looking like they joined the pigs in their mud rolling." Griffins stepmother scolded looking at her hair and her clothes which were torn and weren't what her stepmother gave her to wear instead it was some baggy jeans, a button-down shirt, and some boots. "Sit down and eat then get washed up and straight to bed young lady." Griffins father said giving her the furious dad look. After eating griffin went upstairs to wash up and went to bed.

Griffin woke up and yawned she went downstairs and heard her father and stepmother talking "if she acts like this again and someone sees her our reputation may fall and we may have difficulties in our life again" griffin heard her father say. "Why don't we send her to a boarding school maybe that would fix her and make her more ladylike." Griffins' stepmother offered. "Perfect then she will be a perfect little angel." Her father said. Griffin gasped quietly and ran up to her room, she didn't know what to do. What could griffin even do, she was a 15-year-old girl. Then it came to her what if griffin ran away from home. She wouldn't have to go to boarding school and could do whatever she wanted and be free. Griffin grabbed one of her suitcases and packed all her clothes which were everything but the nice clothes her stepmother stuffed in her closest. Griffin went to her window and looked down at the ground. She couldn't jump down, so she'd have to wait till everyone went to work and her brother went to school. Her brother left already and she just had to wait for her father and stepmother to leave for work, griffin normally woke up a lot earlier than her family and went to school when she woke up so her father probably thought she was at school and wouldn't have to worry. Griffin waited for what felt like hours and then she heard the door close and complete silence came from her house. Griffin grabbed her suitcase and bolted out of the house. Griffin ran to the forest that was very far away and she thought her legs would fall off. Griffin saw the giant trees start to come into her vision and took a left going to the train station. Griffin panted as she ran and stopped after she saw the sign that said train station. Before griffin left she had gone to her parent's room and taken some money that they kept in their safe. Griffin somehow after a while was able to unlock it and took some of the money for herself. Griffin tried to fix her hair and wipe some of her sweat off. She went over to the ticket box and bought a ticket to a small town called arrow top. Griffin had gone to that town before but only for her parent's business. She heard the whistle of the train and went to one of the doors where a man stood checking people's tickets. Griffin got seated in one of the small cabins and waited for her trip to arrow top.

Griffin was sleeping most of the trip but she woke up when the train horn blew. She went to look outside the window and her eyes widened when the small town of arrow tip came into her view. Griffin went to grab her bag and get ready for when the train stopped and finally hit the train station of arrow tip. After a few minutes, the train got to a stop and blew the horn. Griffin jumped up from her seat and walked outside of the train. The small town got into her sight and she started walking to the town. Griffin walked into town and realized where was she going to sleep? Then griffin remembered one other reason that her family came here that one time. Her grandmother lived here, Griffin's family never visited her and thought maybe her grandmother would let her stay with her. Griffin started to run to her grandmother's house which was at the very edge of town. She got to her grandmother's door and knocked a few times. Griffin waited and jumped when the door shot open with her grandmother going to hug her. "Hello Mimi," griffin said trying to breathe from her grandmother's tight hug. "What are you doin here kiddo?" Her grandmother said looking at griffin. "Mimi you wouldn't believe it Shelby and dad are trying to send me to boarding school!" Griffin said getting out of her grandmother's bear hug. "Oh no, I can't believe that they'd try sending you away," her grandmother said. "They want me to be a lady when I'm no lady," griffin announced holding her head up. "Griffin dear why don't you come inside," her grandmother said moving from the door to let Griffin in. Griffin went to sit down at the white couch in the living room, "Mimi I was wondering if I could stay with you. I don't wanna leave and go to boarding school and be forced to be someone I'm not." Griffin said looking at her grandmother "You can stay, but you'll have to earn your stay by helping me around town and the house." Her grandmother said sitting beside Griffin on the couch. "Yes, ill help thank you, Mimi!" Griffin hugged her grandmother after hearing her response. "Let's get your room set up alright kiddo?" Griffin nodded and followed her grandmother up the stairs to one of the rooms which were very empty and looked surprisingly clean. Griffin placed her suitcase down and looked outside the window. "Mimi, what's that down there?" Griffin said pointing to a big empty pen. "Oh, the horse pen" her grandmother looking over griffin to see where she was pointing. "I didn't know people had horses here," Griffin said. "Well I have a horse but he got old so we can't use him for work right now," her grandmother said. "Can I go see the horses?" Griffin said now seeing a few horses coming into the pen. "Sure kiddo maybe we can ask the barn owner if we can get you one of the new horses." Her grandmother said walking off to get something from the closet. "Hey griffin come here real quick" griffin turned around and saw her grandmother holding a pair of boots that had yellow and red markings around the top and toe of the boots. "What are those?" Griffin asked looking at the boots, "These were your mothers, here see if they fit you" Griffin's grandmother said, and griffin slipped the boots on her feet. Griffin walked around a little bit "they seem to fit" griffin said looking up from the boots to look at her grandmother. "Alright those boots are yours now kiddo, now go explore town a little" her grandmother said and got up leaving Griffin's room. Griffin went downstairs and walked outside. Griffin had gone to a few shops in town, she got some candy and was eating an apple. Griffin looked around and saw a few kids on horses galloping to a nearby forest. Griffin saw a brown and red barn and went over to one of the pens seeing a few of the horses. "Hey, kid!" Griffin turned around to see a woman carrying a block of hay on her back. "Oh hello, is this your barn?" Griffin asked turning away from the horses and looking at the woman. "Yes it is, I'm Akira stone," Akira said putting down the block of hay. "Griffin Taylor smith," griffin said looking down at her boots. "Oh your Peyton's grandkid, she talks about you all the time," Akira said snapping her fingers after she heard Griffin's name. "Hey, you wanna help me with feeding some of our new horses?" Akira asked going to pick the block of hay up. *
"Sure! What can I do" griffin said jumping up and walking over to Akira. "Help me with this hay and getting it in the barn." Akira and Griffin both walked to the barn and griffin opened the door and saw at least 10 horses of all sizes. "Alright now throw it in the pile," Akira said and the two threw the hay with the pile. "Alright now that the hay is there, wanna get the new horses some apples? We need about five apples." Akira said and griffin found a barrel with red apples. Griffin grabbed the five apples and the two walled out the barn to see all different horses. "Whoa they're all so pretty," griffin said still walking over to the horses. "Alright give me three of those apples" griffin gave Akira the three apples and got into the horse pen. Griffin Gave one apple to one of the horses that came up to her. Griffin had one apple left and looked behind her to see a giant horse looking right at her. Griffin looked up to see the giant horse. "Oh, that's Zephyr, a big gentle giant if you ask me. He's a very beautiful Clydesdale." Akira said going over to griffin and petting Zephyr's side. Griffin held her hand out with the apple in hand and  Zephyr went to take the apple from her hand.
