The blazing midday sun shone relentlessly on the students through the glass windows. Middle of the class as the teacher was engulfed deep in the topic.
"Alright, Now. One by one please come to the front and place your homework here, I'll check them while you guys do exercise 13 on page 105."
A jaded sigh left Herin's soft lips, her eyes feeling heavy from the lack of sleep. She had spent last night thinking about how to face anyone with the words that had been imprinted into her head.
It was as if all her confidence was flushed out.
Though, Saewoo did try to redeem it by giving her bold empowering words.
Ignore, being one of them. Herin wanted to try and disregard any useless arguments and sub topics.
It would appear as if she was strong and didn't care much, paying no heed.Setting her homework down on the teachers desk, she quietly made it to her seat and sat down coveting to do her work.
"Where's Huang Renjun? He isn't in class today?"
"No Miss...I think he's absent."
"Oh, No Miss. I saw him today, He's just ditching class...Again."The teacher and several students who stood by the desk nearby, exchanged their words.
An accusatory frown climbed on the teachers face, slowly shifting gaze towards Herin who was silently doing her work. Herin felt eyes on her and knew what was coming. She stared down and avoided the teachers gaze. Attempting to not be noticed.
Mrs. Ghim grinned warmly,
"Herin dear, Can you please go out and get Renjun in class."Biting her bottom lip, Herin's eyes fluttered shut in bitterness.
She looked up at the teacher,"Yes Miss. Ghim."
The teacher went back to marking papers as she knew Herin would never decline a teachers order.
Disadvantages of being the 'good student'.
Herin sighed, getting up and sauntering outside, Releasing a large breath as soon as she stepped out.
The tranquil and deserted hallway held a comforting fragrant, quite savoury actually. Bringing extreme placidity to the girl.
But only for seconds as she had spotted a familiar figure standing by the lockers."Oh Herin, How are you? You-"
"I'm fine, don't worry. What about you?"Jaemin shut his locker and gave her a genuine smile back, as she had always faced him with a charming smile.
"Just..Getting a text book.."
He awkwardly scratched the back oh his neck, his finger nails gliding at his nape. Guilt and pity rising up."Listen...please don't take Renjun's words for to the heart- He's just like that to everyone. Don't take him serious."
Herin slightly chuckled at his soft adequate words. "I won't..where is he though?"
"Oh, Rooftop."
Herin glimmered a smile at his response.
"Why? Are you going to talk-"
"No! I'm just following my teachers orders, She wanted me to get him..."Jaemin let out a high pitched cackle at her nervous form. "Don't worry he won't bite."
"I hope so.."
She flashed a gloomy smile to the floor tiles. Then with a small thank you and a goodbye, they walked their own ways.Herin marched her feet agaisnt the stair steps, heart beat racing stridently with each lift. She was
bewildered at what was about to happen.Gradually, The glistering sunlight fluoresced through the open rooftop door. The soft, milky clouds celestially roamed the enchanting baby blue sky.
Calm breeze passed by her skin, brushing gently while her hair flowed back as she walked in. Taking in the soothing and quiet aroma. And there stood Renjun by the railings, elbows resting on its metal while holding the intoxicating stick.
Every breath he took and let out, the grey-ish puffs escaped from his lips.
The silver hair of his beaming underneath the vivid sun. The fierce look he wore on his face, implaced harshly.Herin scrunched her nose at the acrid, supercilious smell.
She strolled closer to the railings, standing beside him while Gazing at the alluring view ahead.Feeling presence, Renjun snapped his head to the side and let out a scoff when seeing the familiar petite figure. "What do you want."
Herin eyed his side profile, astonished at the fact how someone can be so rude and resentful.
"Miss Ghim wants you in class."
"I'm not coming, Leave."His voice was low and exasperated, staring infront with a deep frown on his face.
Observing his face, Herin took a mental note that he was vastly unhappy, always. The silent air and comfortable atmosphere, Flying around, was being complimented with the calm, slow, and warm wind that stroked agaisnt the two.
Herin slightly gulped down the dryness of her throat, demented on what to do as Renjun didn't budge to move.
"Mrs. Ghim really wants you in class-
"You know you should really shut up."Herin's eyes shifted towards the landscape situated before them, feeling highly embarrassed.
"Making everyone like you isn't gonna make you the best."
His hoarse tone was rough and tired, Puffing out another cloud of grey smoke. The agonising feeling of being pique crawled into her as his words hit hard.
His behaviour was unbearable. She turned and faced his side profile that glared at the ravishing view infront.
"Why would I want everyone to like me when my own father dosen't?"
Her voice was close to a whisper, a soft, mild tone filled with extreme sorrow. Yet, so gentle. At the blue words of hers, Renjun shot his head to her. His dark eyes meeting her bitter ones that no longer shined, Not a single sparkle in them.
The sun effortlessly radiated on the entrancing features of hers, the shimmering light reflected on her glass skin, creating a divine honey look on her.
However, her eyes were soulless, her angelic side no longer in appearance.Herin broke the eye contact and nervously cleared her throat.
"Mrs. Ghim wants you in class."With that, she walked away without a second glance.
Renjun stared at the empty door in which she had just left. Eyes flickering down to his burned cigarette.
Hurling it to the ground and crushing it under his shoe, he took out another drag.
