The Love of Rose : A Play

Act i Sceneiii

Venice Beach Freakshow

Rose walks in and sees the sword swallower and heads toward him. 

She fakes a fall and he catch's her. They stare into eachother's eyes lovingly. 

(Smiling) Ash--Hi. 

Rose--Hey.

Awkrard staring

Rain--Ahem.

Rose and Ash stammer embarrassed.

Rain--Ash, we have a job to do... Your sword awaits, along with everything else. Including the crowd staring at you two.

Ash--Well, we can finish this in a bit right.....

Rose--Rose

Ash--Thank you. Right Rose?

Rose--Yeah. I'm just gonna watch you swallow swords while I wait.   (Giggle)

Ash--Awesome. See you in twenty minutes!

Rose--I'm not leaving.....I didn't think....

Ash--Rain will give you the details and everything else, right Rain?

Rain--Sure.... Come on Rose.

Rain takes Rose behind the stage in a secret room. All main characters are in room, excited.

Rose--Ok. So, One, where are we going? Two, who are all of these people? Three, what are you going to do to me?

Rain introduces the group with titles "Sword swallower, indestructable woman....." Couples are together.

Rain--This is Storm, my boyfriend, and....(swiftly) Foxglove, Wolf, Morgona,Morte, and Jasper

Wolf--We're here to get you ready for the boss's house. His name is Ray. He owns the Freakshow.

Rose--Um.... How did you know I was coming?

Rain--Don't mind him. This is our staff lounge.

Rose-- Oh. So why am I going to the boss's house?

Morgona groans.

Morgona--You've never dated a man from the freakshow have you?

Rose--No.....

Morgona--He has no family. Well, not one that cares. That's how most of us are. The boss is like the father of the family.

Rose--So the first date and it's dinner with the family?

Morgona--He's obviously proud of you.

Rose--So what do I need to do? How do I impress him?

Morgona--Unless you've got a sideshow talent, you're screwed.

Rose--I can eat fire and swallow flaming swords?

Rain--Ha! That should work!
