General Nutjob

PLEASE READ GEN Z BY @cat_bostick ITS SO GOOD AND IT'S ALSO A 10k LOVESTORY :)

We made it into the nearest town and we've been trying to get this stupid drive through camera up and running, but it is NOT going well. Addy has done most of the work while I help where I can. This isn't really my specialty, my interests have always been in plants and animals. I wanted to be a biologist before the world went to shit.

"This is Sergeant Charles Garnett calling Northern Light. Charles Garnett calling Northern Light. Come in, Northern Light. Can you read me? Citizen Z, are you there? Over." Garnett tries for probably the 80th time while I lean against the truck, 10k standing next to me, so close I can feel him breathing in and out.

I glance over at the much taller sniper beside me, his eyes scanning for danger. He always seems so tense, like he thinks danger is seconds from jumping him. I wonder if I could get him to relax, not that I know what's relaxing to him.

"Yes, this is Northern Light for Garnett. Citizen Z hitting you back. Go for Garnett." A static voice speaks and I shoot up, an excited smile on my face.

It actually worked! 

"Thank God. We've been trying to make this work for hours." Garnett sighs and I'm sure he was close to giving up.

"What are you broadcasting on?" Citizen Z asks our leader curiously. 

"Uh, Clowny the french fry guy. Two of our team, Carver and Finch jerry-rigged a drive-thru camera." Garnett explains and I can hear the slight embarrassment from openly admitting he is talking to a drive through clown.

"Addy Carver?" Citizen Z repeats and I furrow my brows looking at the red head.

I might have thought they knew each other, but Addy's face tells me she has no clue who he is. I guess he has a crush on her, which isn't surprising since she's a very pretty girl, although I'm a little offended he didn't acknowledge my help at all.

"Is she there? I wanna say hi." CZ asks and I laugh as Addy looks completely weirded out at this point.

Garnett and Addy swap places and she awkwardly walks up to the clown. I look at Mack who seems more amused than anything about the situation. 

"Hi, Addy."

"Hey." She replies awkwardly, glancing back at us like we know what's going on.

I look at 10k to see if he's amused, but it's his usual stoic expression. He seems to show emotion at the strangest moment, almost like he forgets that he's trying to be serious and closed off.

"How's it going down there?" He asks and you can hear he's smitten from his tone.

"Ummm, it's pretty eff'd up actually. How's it going wherever you are?" She replies and I giggle softly as I turn back to face the redhead, she seems so unsure of the situation.

"Aww you know, same ol' same ol'. Busy keeping an eye on the world. What can I do for you folks?" He replies like she just flirted with him which makes her look back us with a 'help me' face.

I hold my hands up in the surrender position while I show her a teasing smile. Addy jokingly glares at me like it's my fault this poor guy has a crush on her.

"Can we get a chocolate shake and fries for ten thousand men?" Doc calls out from the truck, his usual light joking reminding everyone of the fact we are talking to a fast food clown.

If someone had told me three years ago that this is where I'd be, I wouldn't have believed them for a second. This all seems so ridiculous if you really consider it.
