"Tag! Your'e it!" You yell as you run around in a park.
"Just you wait-I'll catch you!" Rin grins, revealing his knocked out, gapped teeth and his bruised red checks. You run towards a giant old oak tree, look back and see Rin running towards you. You take a quick right turn and circle around the tree. You snicker, feeling confident that you tricked him but to your surprise, Rin pops out of nowhere and jumps on top of you.
"SURPRISEEE ATTACK!" He tackles you down and both of you roll in the dirt, giggling and play-fighting. You kick and laugh until both of you are out of breath. You lay on your backs against the old tree, facing the sunset sky, infused with shades of purples, reds and pinks.
"I win!" Rin says with confidence and pride. He turns his head to face you, the colors illuminating on his face. He chuckles, and smiled ear to ear.
"You always win." You pout.
"That's because you're tooooo slow, Y/N. You gotta fast, like me." He points to himself and lets out a "he-he".
You punch him in the stomach.
"OW! What was that for!" He looks at you confused.
"You deserved it. Don't bully me."
You stare at each other in silence and both of you burst out in laughter. A few minutes later, both of you calm down and try to catch your breath, once again. You turn back to face the beautiful sky and watch the sunset. The birds soar across the vast sky, and slowly disappear into the sunset. You stretch your hand out, as if you're trying to grasp the sun into your tiny hand.
"Hey...Rin?"
"Yeah?" He looks back at you.
"Promise...promise me that it'll always be like this. I want it to stay like this. Promise..." Your eyes begin to water and you feel your throat closing up.
"Promise...that you'll never leave me. I don't want to be anyone's burden but....I just can't be left alone again like last tim-" Rin reaches over and thwacks you on your forehead.
"Are you stupid or something? We're best friends. That means we got each others back, Ok? So don't ever say anything like that ever again. " He sighs as your eyes fill with tears of joy and twinkle with happiness. He stretches his hand to the sky, and grabs onto your hand. With both hands intertwined, you stare upon the sky together. Both hands slowly fall down, but still grasped tightly. You admire the horizon in silence, and watch the sun slowing heading in for the night.
"I promise." Rin speaks up. Surprised, you turn your head and notice he's blushing.
"So quit crying, ya big baby." He mumbles, his cheeks a bright red. You wipe away you're tears and squeeze tightly to his hand.
"k."
You grin as you lay there all night, cherishing the stars, moonlight and the moment of bliss.
You wake up to a screaming alarm clock. You get up to turn it off and stand there, alone in your compact, dim-light room.
"Some promise that was." You say to yourself.
