She stepped out of her clothes and walked into the water. This wasn't the safest thing to do, but she's been doing it for a year now and still hasn't gotten the virus. The water was cold against her skin and it caused her arms to tingle from the rising goosebumps. She loved this feeling. The feeling of cold water running over her bare body. The feel of every drop exploring her every inch and then slowly falling to the floor. Sadly, she knew why she liked it so much. It was the only thing that could feel her skin. The last thing on earth that would make her feel like this.
She cupped water into her hands and splashed her face. The sun was just rising and she could feel the tensity of the infected in the air. The smell of rain before it falls and rotting corpses was surrounding her as she closed her eyes and tried to remember how it felt to have a friend through this. Her mind was blank. Of course.
Something rustled in the bushes and she froze. her gun was just inches away from her and she couldn't get to it on time. She'd be dead in seconds. The rustling got closer and she tried to sink into the water to hide herself, but she was too late. The infected man jumped out of the bush and quickly ran toward her. There was no denying, she was going to die.
She closed her eyes to hide from the inevitable death that awaited her, buy it just didn't seem to come. She opened her eyes and found a man, a few inches taller than she was, holding the crazy by his neck and cutting his arms off with a dull blade and quickly pulling his bottom jaw off.
"You're okay. I took care of it." The man reached and touched her shoulder.
"Who are you?" She asked trying to cover herself before he saw.
He helped her out of the water and handed her her clothes and turned around to give her privacy.
"My name is Cesar. And the girl..." He pointed to small blonde girl peeking out from behind a tree. "...is Carly. I take care of her."
Hope couldn't help it. She couldn't stop staring. Someone else was out there fighting for their life just like she did and there she was standing naked and shaking in a lake in front of them.
