You wake up, go to work at 6:15 am, go home and bomb now that it's time for school. It is usual to do homework after school and then head straight to work.

All this so you could take care of your two younger brothers. It's bad enough your mother works all the time, and then she's lazy but at least she's paying most of the bills in the house.

Your mother didn't give you the motherly love you always wanted; instead, she walked into the house, smoked a cigarette, and settled down for the night.

You mean, you just thought to yourself, "why have children when you don't even want to raise them yourself, why have children if you put all the work on your oldest child?"

You were exhausted and in pain. It was like she didn't love you anymore. She was just worried about her next paycheck and cigarette and maybe what whiskey or vodka to drink.

Despite your grades and hard work, you never received recognition for them. You work hard, take care of your three-year-old twin brothers, Hakeem and Izaak, and make your own money.

Why hasn't she acknowledged you yet? What is she waiting for?

Just a few months ago, you moved to Tokyo. Your aunt taught you in the house until your mother got sick of you being in the house all the time and enrolled you in an actual school.

The fact that you didn't have many friends in school or in America meant that you didn't have too much to lose.

Money was the only thing you needed.

People stared at you when you arrived at your new school - your skin was darker than theirs, your hair was in an afro because your aunt was too lazy to braid it, you were thicker than others, and you had fuller features than others.

So of course, you were different.

Her name was Himari and she was your first friend. In math class, she sat next to you and asked for help.

She said your hair was exotic and pretty, so you guys started talking.

After a three-week period of a balanced schedule, one day you found yourself stuck at work. To reach the train, you had to wait for the bus, it was cold and you weren't able to leave until 12:00am.

Due to sleep and your anxiety about your brothers, your mother didn't even try to pick you up from work.

Your aunt was at work so you were on your own.

Your work pants were getting wet and your afro was shrinking by the second because of the rain, and it was curling up, another headache to worry about in the morning.
