Walking into class was probably the most nerve wracking thing I've ever done. And my brain wasn't helping either, telling me that everyone was looking at me and judging me. I found a seat in the back of the class and sat down. That's when it happened, when she came into my life. She walked into the classroom and it was as if there was just a shining light that walked in. Though there was nothing special about what she was wearing, a plain white t-shirt and sweats. Her smile was contagious and seemed to light up our big classroom that was, in my opinion, too light already. It was 10 am but it was the first day of classes and it felt more like 5 am, with the bright lights and dimly lit hallways. Our classroom was small and yet bigger than the classrooms back home. It had chairs on both sides and a smart board on the left wall with a little desk next to it.

I was so lost in thought that I barely noticed the girl with the big smile sitting down next to me. I looked over and saw her putting her stuff down and moving the seat. "Hi," she said. "My name is Aubry, what's yours?
"Hi, I'm Marie" I respond, my voice sounding shaky and cracking with every new word.
"So, what got you into writing Marie?" asks Aubry.
"I always liked to make new worlds to escape to, just like my favorite authors." I replied. "What about you?"
"I was trying to impress some guy, though my passion for writing stuck, he didn't." I laugh, "I'm sorry," I apologize.
"No it's fine" she waves me off "He was a stuck up idiot, well still is, but whatever." Looking back now, I wish I could hear more stories about Aubry's love life. It may have been filled with people who didn't deserve her but at least she knew that.

Soon the Professor came in, and started class. Though I was excited for the class, it was hard to pay attention when I had just hopefully made a new friend! Or at least would have someone I could talk to in class. Relief, and hope washed over me, maybe making friends would be easier than I thought. I felt a smile growing on my face. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all.

Once our professor excused us at the end of class, I got ready to leave. I packed up my notebook and pen, got my bag and was about to get up when Aubrey called my name. "Do you wanna get coffee with me and my friend?" she asked.
"Sure!" I replied, a smile tugging at my lips. We walked out the classroom and Aubry and I exchanged phone numbers. "So what time were you thinking we should get coffee?" I asked
"How about now?" she asked.
"Umm sure" I replied.

We walked off of campus and headed towards China Town? "Are you sure this is the right place?"
"Yeah"
"It's a small place that no one ever really goes to, I like it because it's quiet and it feels like you can escape from everything."
"That sounds relaxing."
"Yeah" she responded dreamily. We came to a stop at a small red brick building. It had a sign that read coffee, it was missing the letter "O", thus it more accurately read "c ffee". Aubry pulled the door open and there were two circular tables, in the middle of the room, and books packed on every wall except the wall behind us where there were windows.

Aubrey and I went to the tiny little counter with a barista, who seemed surprised that they had customers. Though to be fair by the way things were going it didn't seem like they got a whole lot of people who came. "Hi, one iced coffee, and..."
" Make that two please, with creamer and milk, please." I take out my purse to pay but, Aubry waves me off. "You sure?" I ask.
" Yeah" and then she smiles wide.
i grin back at her.

We make our way to a table next to the books and window. " So uhhh.... Do you know what you're gonna major in?
"I wanna do Psychology, to help people." Aubry replies. I smile, "That's awesome!" I smile up at her. Wow nice and pretty what's the catch with her?
"What about you?"
"I don't know yet, I wanna be a writer though."
"Oh cool, what types of books do you wanna write?"
" I don't know maybe YA novels.." she responds dreamily.
I smile at that. She looks so happy, thinking about her future and what could come. A bell rings and startles  me.
