"Sophie, wake up!" I hear a familiar voice scream interrupting my dream in which I won an all-expense paid buffet and had a vast spread of deserts and burgers all for me to eat. BY MYSELF.
Nah uh uh. Not happening. I will finish eating these brownies and cake and donuts and- "SOPHIE CARTER WAKE UP YOU FAT OAF!" I hear her scream again. Why must everyone come in between me and my food?
"Okay. Plan A abort. Time to move on to Plan B."
That is when I find myself drenched in ice cold water. My indulgent dream a memory I can hardly remember anymore. It takes a while for my mind to catch up with the shivers on my skin and register what just happened. What the fu-
I immediately shoot up in bed. Now wide awake. My eyes wide the size of saucers. "What the hell Mia?" I ask my best friend. Annoyed.
See I love her to bits and all that, but I love my relationship with my bed. No commitment needed. We just sleep together every night and enjoy each other's company. My bed is my bae.
"It's the first day of high school" Mia screams overjoyed in my ear. Somehow she managed to come stand right next to my ear when she was just standing near the foot of my bed two seconds ago. How she did that? I have absolutely no idea.
"But school starts at eight thirty and it's seven now." I point out. "Also, last time I checked the first day of high school was three years ago."
"Okay Ms. Perfectionist. I am terribly sorry for my imperfect statement. I thought it was obvious BUT it is the first day of high school as a senior and we need to find the perfect outfit for you. Which is why you, my lady, are up at seven. Eeeeek! How exciting is that? We're seniors now." Mia says squealing and handing me a towel so I can dry myself.
Aww! She's such a great friend but she is the one who drenched me in water. So... no Sophie. She ain't no great friend. She's absolutely pure evil. "As exciting as going shopping with mom AKA my excitement is nonexistent." I utter.
"Don't be a pessimist. You're a senior now! Now get your fat arse off the bed." Mia says pushing me off the bed. I land on my butt. Ow!
"Arse? You're British now?" I huff getting off the floor.
"It sounds more polite and... sophisticated." She says grinning and finishing lamely. "Sophisticated?" I ask. She nods proud of herself. "You're dumb." I conclude trying to hide a smirk. Why am I even friends with her in the first place? Let alone best friends with her.
"And you're intelligent I get it. Which is why they say.... drumroll please.... opposites attract." Mia says winking and laughing making me laugh too. "Enough of laughing. Now go take a bath. Seniorism awaits your arrival." Mia says with her eyes wide as if challenging me to disobey her. I laugh, grab random clothes and go to my bathroom.
"I'm giving you only five minutes, Soph."
"K, Mia." I say knowing that she's kidding. I start the shower. The fact that we have to get out of bed, shower, go about our day, come back, sleep and do it all over again is depressing.
"I've started the timer already. Thirty seconds are up. You have four and a half minutes left." Oh! She's not kidding?
"Geez! Okay. Now shut up!" I scream over the noise of gushing water.
"Now four minutes." I groan.
"Okay since you're my bestie I'm giving you a little concession here. You get an extra ten seconds." She yells so I can hear over the running water.
