Then came the day.
On the bright Saturday morning, Mina had gotten up earlier than usual to make sure she was completely ready for the day before setting off to Jeongyeon's address.
Mina didn't know what to expect out of the day. She wasn't exactly looking to have anything happen either. All she really wanted was just a temporary distraction for the time being.
While getting ready, she had opted for high-waisted denim shorts, a white long-sleeved collared blouse, and black heel sandals.
Despite being comfortable with her friends, Mina still felt the immense need to look presentable, which many of the other girls classified as overdressing. Although, some girls said it was the complete opposite when it came to her pajamas and that she didn't have enough clothing. Mina could never figure out where the in-between was for the standards of dressing.
Speaking of said friends, Mina was puzzled to find that none of them were there when she stepped inside Jeongyeon's apartment.
All of them had a key to each other's residences for emergencies as well as simple convenience. Which is why Mina entered on her own, only to find emptiness.
After closing and locking the door, Mina checked the time, seeing that it was ten minutes until twelve o'clock, the scheduled time for the get-together.
It wasn't that there was nobody there that really confused Mina, even Jeongyeon being the apartment owner. Mina didn't really think much of the obscure behaviors many of her friends seemed to have.
In actuality, it was the abrupt text Mina received after five minutes of waiting on Jeongyeon's couch.
Mina frowned as she read over the text notification she received from Jihyo.
Some of us will be pretty late. We decided to carpool but we're stuck in really heavy traffic. Don't know how long it might be. :/
Being as observant as she is, it puzzled Mina when she couldn't recall much traffic on her way over. But, considering it was a Saturday afternoon in Seoul, roads tend to flood quickly with cars and people throughout the day, so Mina tried not to overanalyze.
But, now Mina was alone in her friend's apartment, not knowing how long it would be before the circumstances changed.
At the same time, Mina then addressed the idea that she's never seen her friends carpool before. Maybe there have been a few rare occasions where one of them hitched a ride with another. But, seeing Jihyo mention multiple of them traveling together alerted a certain part of Mina's mind which sensed abnormality.
Is it just me or does today feel off? Mina thought to herself.
Mina didn't have much time finding an answer to her internal question because the loud sound of keys unlocking the apartment door interrupted Mina's thought process.
That's probably one of them. Mina internalized, as well as inferred it to be either Chaeyoung or Dahyun since those two were usually the ones more on time.
Going back onto her phone to play an app game, Mina faintly registered the door opening and closing, and barely paid attention to the hollow sound of shoes hitting the floor after being taken off.
It was ironic for Mina's perception of the day, already having made assumptions for its possibilities. Although nothing in hindsight would have crossed Mina's mind in regards to what was about to happen. It was hardly something she could classify as contingency.
"Um, hello."
Occurring once again, Mina lost immediate focus on her game.
The situation was as complex as it was simple, so Mina didn't really know how to feel by first impression.
