Hello Love,
So let's just start with today! Today was the third day of our semi-annual sale, which in general is pretty nuts. So the last couple nuts I have been working around 9 to 10 hours because they keep making me stay to close registers and all this shit, while all the other girls leave like 2 hours before me. And let's get something straight I am not a manager, I have no control over anything that has to do with being a manager. I am our lead cashier which means that I am always at the register and people are hoping on to assist me, but I stay there no matter what. I'm also expected to sell the most and be the fastest at the cashier and keep it looking clean. The cash area is my little baby, I run it!.......Even though I am not a manager.
Rewinding a little back though I was hired as part time sales associate, I previous before this was a seasonal associate at bath and body works, which by the way was amazing and fun and this is trash compared to it. So as a "part time associate" I get 30 percent off and i'm supposed to work around 15 to 20 hours and rarely get 8 hour shifts. When I started I was indeed getting this and that was fine and fun! But after about a month they kept adding more responsibilities and making me stay later which was fine because I was told they wanted to train me as a manager. I did want that and was open to that, but they have taken advantage of that so much now. I work 30 to 40 hours, I am always the last person to leave aside from the managers and I run cash and all the girls that work up there are under me, and I train them and direct them. As a full time employee you also get a 40 percent off discount, but instead of paying me properly and giving me access to the job I am doing they left me at the part time pay and access. So as you can see they are taking advantage of my time and energy instead of properly paying me.
But to get back to today! When you get your break, there is a time you are supposed to go that s in the middle of your shift, so that its placed properly according to your hours. Well this company will send you on break and meals hours before the correct time which leaves you with 3 or more hours to go before you get another break or your off!
I think what honestly was the most shocking today was that I was told by my store manager that I was dressed too casually and needed to look better. Like......excuse me!? Our dress code is black or white and no strapless tops. It can be a crop top or backless, it doesn't really matter. I was wearing a pair of our leggings, this really pretty silver flip flops and one of our brand new crop top long sleeve fleece pullovers. It was black and really cute because it had our logo in rose gold and it was just like very cute and simple. And my manager said I was dressed too casual. To be honest I think that is such a rude thing to say to someone. Like just because my hair was in a bun and I was wearing a simple top doesn't mean I look bad. Yet she had the audacity to insinuate such a thing. And when I told her I wasn't feeling good; " because this week was my finals and I haven't been sleeping. I came into work feeling really dizzy and with a headache, but I tried to push through because I felt bad about calling out, " and she legit for word said "well that's no excuse"........ If I wasn't so worried about my loosing this job I would have said something to her, because this company is all known so much for supporting women and equal rights, and LGBTQ and yet here you are putting me down and making me feel bad about myself, making me believe that I look like shit. Like that is just so rude and disrespectful to me not only as someone who works for her, but also as a woman!
