I sit here now joined by a friend, Cristina, we sit in silence for many minutes. "Why him?" I ask confused, "I don't know Rebecca... T-they took your parents" responds Cristina I nod unable to speak. the people who killed him and took my parents no one knows who they are all we know is they live beyond the walls that either keep us in or other things out. When I was young I was always told that they were our protectors, guardians even they would kill only people who were guilty and I believed that... until now until my innocent brother was murdered now they are the enemy and they will die at my hands "DAMIT" I scream "we need to kill them" I say to Cristina but she doesn't respond instead she is looking at her watch, she is one of the only people here who has a watch they are not common, "I have to go bye" she says and I watch her leave. I decide to sleep in the wheat field tonight as going back home would only haunt me more. tonight it is very hard to sleep with nightmares waking me up every five minutes but eventually I get some sleep. in the morning I realize that I need to go back I need to eat, "my parents will be worried" I think but then I remember they took them.
I've never understood why the people 'protected' us or how, all there is there is a wall but what is on the other side? I have to find out and save my parents, but I don't know where they are kept, they may not be on the other side but then where would they be? When I reach my house I am surprised that the blood is cleaned and my brother is gone. I walk into the kitchen and see a boy very pale almost ghost like.
I know him he is Sam.
I almost collapse when he asks why they killed him "I don't know" I answer. and he disappears.
Could he have done something wrong? I think how could they have thought Sam was dangerous? Suddenly I realize they are doing this to torture me, taking my parents, killing my brother, what will be next? Will I be killed or just left alone in isolation until I die like an animal in a zoo being laughed at while I go insane, if they do kill me, how will they choose to? An arrow, a bullet possibly or even poison, "but I'm going to live, avenge my brother and take back my parents" I whisper to myself, "your not going to die" says a voice behind me its Cristina "why would they kill you? It's not like you have powers" she says, "I do" I reply
But she does not respond just stares and runs away stoping at each house telling them what I have told her.
"Okay so I can't trust, lesson learned" I say to myself. Suddenly a small girl, violet, comes in she is about my age but very short and childlike "I-is or true?" Asks violet, "yes, I can fly" I respond and begin to lift off the ground she does the same "me too" she smiles "I'm going to help you get your parents back" she says, determined. "okay" I say quietly.

I slept in my house witch was a mistake my dreams were filled with nightmares I woke up screaming several times that night. Suddenly the girl, violet comes in carrying a pack "food" she says and I nod as I get up "what do we do now, everyone knows they won't help us" she says "we have to find others." and we start walking.
There are not direct paths to the wall so we need to make it up.
I hear faint barking and don't think much of it until we get closer and I can actually see the dogs. about fifteen large mutts, I grab a knife from the top of the pack, a very large one. As we approach the dogs one lunges at me its claws cutting my arm and blood pouring from its side as my knife hits it the mutt whimpers as it dies. "HELP" I hear a scream, its violet. I run over to her, on the ground as a mutt is standing on her neck, clawing and biting at her face, blood coming from the wounds. I stab the dog but not soon enough as the dog dies she is already dead.
She is dead and I can't do anything about it. immediately after she died I attack the mutts not caring about the bites they are leaving on me or how much I'm bleeding all I care about is killing the mutts. When they are all dead I sit down next to violet's body, we had not known each other well we barely knew each other at all but in the few times we had talked I knew she was a kind girl abused at her foster home no one knows what happened to her real parents only that they left her on a street curb and a kind elderly couple took her in after the couple died she was sent to a foster home and was beaten, she always had cuts and bruises and hid in the forest instead of going to school.
As I sit by her limp body I look at her wounds I do up her sweater and put her hair down. I need to leave now people will find me I think and I leave, a single tear running down my cheek as I leave violet behind.
The next morning I sit by a stream looking at the contents of my pack, an apple, some crackers, knives, some rope and bread, I pick up the knives and decide to spend the day hunting. About a hundred yards away from the stream there are about four turkeys standing together they don't see me so I throw the first knife killing one causing the others to run. I go to retrieve the turkey and my knife I realize there is a village in the distance at first I don't know what to do I stay still. I spend the day wandering but not too far and not too close to the village. when night falls I feel it getting much colder, I put my sweater on and look back at the village. nothing.
I am about to make a fire but am interrupted by something large and black, a hovercraft, going to get violet.
When we are born we have a tracker put in our arm it only activates when we die though. no one can disable the tracker, except me. it took a while to figure out how but it's actually pretty easy, but very painful. "I still have time before they get to her I can disable it and keep them from doing tests on her" I think. I turn around and Sprint. the sun has just barely gone down and it's a full moon tonight, I have light.
As I'm running I'm remembering how to cut them out, cut the arm, find the small metal device and hold the centre button for 15 seconds, release and done. once I reach her I start immediately I don't have a lot of time so I work quickly cutting into her arm finding the tracker witch is right below her skin press and hold the centre button of the silver contraption, it beeps as I release and I'm done I step on the tracker, crushing it. I carry violet with me "I'll burry her later" I think. I watch as the hovercraft turns around "huh it's automatic" I whisper "if someone was controlling the hovercraft it would've landed". when I get back to where I was earlier my feet are aching and I just want to sleep. that night I dream of getting under the electric barbed wire fence and into a place where you can use your powers freely. when I wake up its only about twenty minutes later, I lean against a rock staring at the village nothing is moving, its too late for people to be awake but then something moves, I see someone holding a flashlight then the person disappears but the flashlight stays "escaping" I say under my breath suddenly the beam from the flashlight points towards me and instantly I grab my pack and run. they are chasing me, I'm too tired to run any further so I fly up to where I'm just out of reach. I can see them now, a girl I can see her dark eyes and pale skin but that's about it. it's been a few minutes and she speaks first "escaping?" She asks "yeah you?" I reply "yes" she answers "come down" I don't move "I'm not going to do anything I just want to see you properly" I lower about four feet I'm still about a foot off the ground "there happy?" I say "yes" she answers "I'm emerald" I stay silent "who are you?" She asks "Rebecca" I reply.
Suddenly she is scared and begins backing away pointing to violet "she was a um... friend" I say "died a couple days ago" "how..."Asks emerald "did she die?" "Mutts" I reply, emerald nods "are you going to burry her?" Emerald asks I nod she looks confused "I took out the tracker" I say, answering her unspoken question "and it didn't explode?"she asks "I disabled it first" I answer "oh.... can you do that to me?" She asks "it hurts a lot but sure in the morning" I say. as we are beginning to go to sleep I realize I haven't eaten anything I still have the turkey. "oh well more food for tomorrow" I think as I fall asleep. In the morning I am awake before emerald and I begin digging with a small shovel I found near the village once the shallow grave is the size of violet I place her in and cover her with dirt once I'm done I sit on a rock and emerald wakes up "can you take the tracker out now?" She asks, I nod. as I cut into her arm to remove the tracker she winces obviously in more pain than she is showing I find the tracker press the button for fifteen seconds it beeps I take it out bandage her arm and step on the tracker "there done" I say "let's start walking otherwise we'll never make it to the fence" "alright but let's eat first" she says "I'm hungry" "okay" I say as I pull the turkey out of my pack "let's eat" some of the turkey has gone bad so we eat around that. once we have eaten we start walking.
