It all started from the story that my mom always told me when I was little. A couple of years later everything changed. It was my 17th birthday that everything had fallen apart.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Jade, happy birthday to you!!!" everyone sung. "Make a wish and blow out the candles," said someone from the crowd of people that I barely knew. So I did, and I wished that I could have at least one real friend besides the fake ones I already have that only uses me to get something I have already. My family doesn't pay much attention to me so I need someone in my life who understands where I'm coming from.

At school I'm the outcast but I kind of understand that. Everyone is afraid of the outcast because they are afraid that one day they will kill everyone because of how they were treated. That's stupid they would most likely end their life first but the kids know I don't deal with them like other outcast would. Till one day at school there was this new kid that was being pushed around by three kids that I know very well. I walked over there to see what's going on. Nick was the only one to stop at first. He smiled a shy and scared smile as he slide away from the scene that I saw.

"Um... hi Jade, how is your day going." said Nick, while his friends kept pushing the boy around.

"My day is going fine," my voice was in an irritated mood because I have to deal with people like him on regular bases, I could see that Nick had relaxed some. "And Nick can you explain to me what you are doing?" my voice was now in my getting down to business voice that everyone knows. Nick told Scott and Jack to set the boy down.

Scott and Jack didn't see me because their backs were facing me. Once they ask Nick why all he did was nodded his head in my direction. The guys turned around and saw me; they still hold the boy by the arm because they knew if a fight happen and I was there I wanted everyone that was involved to stay put so I can talk to them.

"Uh... hi Jade, we are so sorry... we were just making sure that this little punk knew were his place was." Scott was always the one who gave fewer details but got to the point on what had happened. As he walked the guy over to hand to me, I grabbed him by the wrist and looked at the three guys and told them to scram, which they did with no haste.

"Sorry about those guys, they are idiots, my name is Jade." I let go of the guy's wrist and let him do whatever he wants. When that happen to most guys I help they usually ran away to never return to thank me, but I guess it happens. This guy seemed different, not the typical type of guy. He wore black pants, with a plain black t-shirt, with a nice cool looking black jacket. He was pale with super dark brown hair that people mostly mistaken it for black that had an emo type of style going on.

"Thanks I thought I was a goner. I don't think I will fit in here like i did at my other school. Oh and my name is Brandon." He looked at me and shook my hand. "Nice to meet you... Jade right?"

"Yea... I like to help but I thought you would run away like all the other people do." I took his hand and shook it. After I let go I looked at the ground as usual. I never have many friends because they either want something from me or that they don't see me as equal to them so I'm usual all alone, but I'm used to it. "So what class do you have to go for first period?" I asked as I still looked at the ground.

"Um," he pulls out his schedule from his backpack. He looks at it for a few minutes and looks at me, "I have art for first in room 100." That's a great thing for me because I have that class too but why would this guy. He doesn't look like someone who would be into that type of stuff. He is cute so I guess it wouldn't be a problem to hang out with him.

"That's cool; I can show you because I have to head to that same room for art too." I started to walk off from where we were standing and to where the art class. I stayed silence because I don't really like how people think that there is always something great about me, that I'm nice to everyone even though I don't really do that and don't really care what they say. It's just stupid rumors that idiots like to spread around school. But hey I'm the outcast at this school and he doesn't so why should he be seem around school with the likes of me. Someone who will just bring him down because who I am.
