Dimitri POV
Janine frowned.
"You want to do what?" she asked. Dimitri frowned and started playing with the sleeve of his sweater.
"Guardian Hathaway, I understand your concern. But, I am very serious about this," he said, raising his eyes from his shoes to meet Janine and Abe’s. Janine frowned and looked at Abe.
"Dimitri, it’s something that just isn’t done, not amongst guardians," she said. Dimitri nodded.
"I understand that. Really, I do. But, with all due respect this isn’t a fling. I love your daughter with all my heart and I’m asking your permission to marry her," he said, keeping eye contact. Abe pursed his lips and eyed Dimitri. He leaned forward.
"If Rose says yes then I’m fine with it. Know this though; if you hurt her. I will kill you,” he said. Dimitri nodded.
"That won’t be an issue sir," he said, turning to Janine. She picked at her nails and furrowed her eyebrows.
"What if I say no?" she asked. Dimitri smiled and looked at his hands.
"I’ll respect your wishes, of course. I won’t go ahead without both of your blessings," he said truthfully. Janine chewed her lips.
"This won’t be easy. You’re going to face a lot of comments and disgusted remarks. Most of it coming from other Dhampirs. You can’t back of this. You can’t decide a year down the line that you don’t want this. You’re never going to be able to have kids- are you sure that you are ready for that?" She asked. Dimitri nodded instantly.
"We have faced so many obstacles already. Nothing will faze us. This is what I want," he said adamantly. Janine clasped her hands and rested her chin on them. She looked deep in thought. She sat up straighter.
"Okay," she said. Dimitri straightened up, his eyes brightening.
"Okay?" he asked. Janine smiled.
"You have my permission."
