"even the cold night wind is terrifying."

jinmi got into her car and drove to the cliff-side. she sat in her vehicle for a moment, contemplating whether she wanted to get out or not. ultimately deciding the first option, she stepped out of the vehicle and just sat on the edge.

dozens of thoughts were running through her mind at that moment and the weight on her shoulders was getting heavier and heavier with each passing second.

she remembered the first time she saw an angel. she had heard stories about them when she was younger, but she had never seen one until one day she was trying to cross the road and almost got hit by a drunk driver.

she remembers a bright light and then the car being crushed in the front, almost as if it was made of paper instead of metal. in front of her, between her and the car stood a girl in all white. her body had left a dent in the car, but she looked unharmed. she remembers the girl looking back at her and smiling. she picked her up and took her to her parents doorstep. the angel has stuck with her ever since.

she knew about the existence of angels, which meant that other creatures, ones that were not so pure and harmless, also existed.

she has never had to encounter a demon, even though she's seen many walking around living secretly among humans. for whatever reason, they never bothered her. maybe it was because she was one of them herself. maybe they didn't wanna mess with an abomination.

this was all too much for her. raw emotion was building up inside the girl.  her breathing started to become uneven as an anxiety attack was slowly taking over her. it soon became visible as her eyes started turning a violet color. this time however, they were flaming. it was like something had awoken inside of her and was making itself known.

she stood up, feeling light headed and dizzy. then all of a sudden she could feel her wings coming out.

even though they weren't heavy at all, the suddenness of it startled her, causing her to unintentionally move them. this proved to be a fatal mistake as she stumbled on the edge.

then it was like time itself had stopped.

she was frozen in fear, falling helplessly towards the dark water below.

the stranger watching her let out an entertained chuckle before deciding to do something he never thought he would.

right before the girl was about to crash into the deep waters, she felt herself being lifted up back onto the edge. she clung onto her savior even after her feet touched the ground. once again it felt like time was nonexistent as she stood there for what felt like hours to the stranger, but he made no move to push her off.

finally after a few moments she let go of him and slowly looked up at her rescuer. she let out a quiet gasp as she recognized the boy from the convenience store. however, this time he was wearing a loose white shirt and black sweats.

oh, and he had wings.

it was a breathtaking sight. they were about 20 feet from tip to tip and raven black. they were sleek and beautiful.

scary, but beautiful.

the boy himself was stunning. he had soft features, almost too feminine to belong to a man, and a slim figure. his body was toned and slender, with broad shoulders and long legs.

she was too caught up with eyeing him that she didn't notice the boy coming closer to her.

"having fun staring at me? close your mouth sweetheart, or a bug might fly in." he said and lifted her lower jaw up with one finger.

she backed away suddenly as if she had been burned. her face was turning a light shade of pink in embarrassment and the boy cooed at her.

"aw, suddenly shy?" he said  mockingly and giggled.

"who are you?" she said shakily.

"i, my dear, am a creature of nightmares as you can tell." he said with a smile, showing his glinting fangs. "my name, however is none of your concern."

"how did you know i was here?" she asked, suddenly skeptical.

"i believe a thank you is in order before you ask any more questions darling. i'm not one to be the heroic type you know." the demon replied.

the girl mumbled a small 'thank you' which in turn made the demon smile.

"that wasn't so hard now, was it? now to answer your question, when we first met i found you intriguing. you didn't know what you were yet, and to be honest, i didn't either. i've never seen anything like you, so i've been watching you. i just happened to be here when you fell. it was like watching a baby bird trying to fly out of the nest." he explained with a small laugh.

"i-i've never used them before. i don't know how..." she defended herself to which the demon cooed at.

"you'll learn in time. now tell me, what's got you so worked up?" he asked. the way he was so alluring made her suspicious and apprehensive that she had the sudden urge to put up all of her defenses.

"that's none of your concern." she spat, annoyed at his condescending nature.

the demon raised his brows before a dark look settled on his perfect face.

"you might wanna watch your tone. i was being nice by saving your sorry ass. don't make me regret it and have to put you in your place." he scoffed but it came out more of a growl.

before the tension could get any thicker, the headlights of a car settled on the two figures. the demon gave the girl one last piercing glare before he opened his wings and soared off into the night.
