It was a day much like any other. The sun was shining bright overhead while the birds calling to me as I wondered through the forest gushed with mounts of snow. I had to get away from all the stress and agony of our modern day society. Nature was my escape. I didn't know that there would soon be no escape from nature. I made my way to the overhang at the end of the path. The scene was breath taking. Five-hundred feet below down a steep decline was a frozen lake. I sat there for many hours pondering over the decisions I would have to make. Finally, I stood up and glimpsed one last time at the beautiful scenery.

It was all so sudden, the snowy earth crumbled under my feet. I frantically grabbed at the air hoping to get a grip on something, anything. That moment was when I saw death gazing into my eyes. A huge boulder the size of a bear fell from the ledge right towards me. I ducked, hoping to get lucky. The bolder fell right past me and hit the pond below. The ice immediately crushed under the weight of the giant rock. I was headed right towards the hole in the ice. I prepared myself for the plunge into the icy cold, bone rattling water.

The water felt like I was engulfed in a pile of snow. It was so cold that I went into shock. My body just sunk to the bottom like the boulder. I finally came to my senses and frantically tried to swim to the top. As I neared the top I couldn't see the hole. The current caused the snow and rocks falling into the hole must have caused me to be pushed over, away from the hole. I panicked, fearing my death. I looked around for any light at all. My head felt as though it was about to explode. Finally, I found the hole and pulled myself up onto the ground. It was over.
