31. Heart Attack

A knock on Harry's dressing room door snapped him out of his song-writing daze. He placed his guitar down next to him and opened the door, expecting a tall blond to be smiling at him on the other side.

He was sorely disappointed, as he was met with the sight of Drew.

The man looked like he might be nauseous.

"You... alright?" Harry asked, instead of greeting the man.

"Yeah... fine, fine... listen." Drew was clearly nervous, sweating a bit and shifting from foot to foot. It was actually kind of funny, to see someone so large and muscular looking so... awkward.

But the next word out of his mouth made Harry's heart stop.

"Scott..." Drew started, and Harry's mind was flooded with different possible scenarios.

Another panic attack, Louis injuring him again...

...cheating.

No. He wouldn't.

Would he?

"Harry, did you hear me?"

"Wha?" Harry asked, shaking his head quickly.

"Scott... he's outside with Mark."

"Where?" Harry asked, without pausing to gather more information. Drew caught up with him quickly as he stormed off in the direction of the main exit to the arena.

"Mark came to the main entrance and said he needed to speak with Scott. We told him about it, and instead of telling us to send him away, he went out to talk to him..." Drew rambled.

Harry could feel his lungs begin to sting as his breathing became more erratic. He wasn't sure what he was feeling. Was he nervous that Scott was going to come back inside disappointed and feeling horrible about himself again, after all of his recent growth? Or was he angry that Scott went out to talk to his ex without telling him?

He brought himself back down to earth. He knew that he had no right to be angry with Scott for that. But he did feel slightly hurt that Scott hadn't told him before going out there.

As they approached the door, they heard voices in the ticket area. One of them was unmistakably Scott. Harry pulled Drew to the side, out of sight. He almost felt guilty for eavesdropping, but this was quickly overshadowed by curiosity. He peeked out, just enough to see the two of them without being noticed.

He already didn't like how close Mark was to Scott. He nearly growled as Mark reached out a hand and grabbed the blond's bicep.

"...Please?" Mark asked, and Harry could see his eyes brimming with tears even from this distance.

"What do you expect from me here, Mark?" Scott asked, quietly. Harry had to strain his ears to hear it at all.

"Just... tell me that it isn't serious. Tell me... tell me that... that..." Mark's tears spilled over. "Tell me that I didn't ruin any little chance I might have still had. Tell me that I didn't lose to Harry Styles. Please."

Harry didn't like hearing his name come from that man's mouth, he decided, definitively.

"Mark, you left me."

"But... but I explained..."

"Did you?"

Mark stared at him for a moment, his mouth open slightly in surprise. Then, he reached for his hand.
