The practice next day was surprisingly calm, considering everyone was getting antsy with excitement for the upcoming holiday. Even coach Washijo seemed to be in good mood and wasn't as stern as usual, which the whole team thought about as a small miracle.

Shirabu was getting more and more anxious. His play was still the same, he prided himself for his ability not to let his personal inner turmoil affect his setting, but as the practice was drawing to an end, he didn't have anything else to occupy his mind with.

He still hadn't come up with any gift for Semi, and the time was running out.

He waited for Semi to change so they could go back to dorms together. The older boy was humming happily as he exited the changing room, smiling at Shirabu with the radiant smile he loved so much.

"Are we still going to the festival tomorrow?" asked Semi about halfway to their rooms.

Shirabu frowned.

"Festival?"

"You know, the one in the park they make every year."

Shirabu stopped in his tracks. He completely forgot he promised Semi to go with him.

"We don't have to go if you don't want to," offered Semi when he noticed Shirabu's stunned expression. "I know you don't like the whole Valentine's Day thing..."

Shirabu collected himself.

"No no no, it's fine, we are going. It's not like I hate it, I just ... never cared too much."

Semi smiled and intertwined their fingers, resuming their walk.

"It'll be fun, you'll see."

Shirabu was in full panic mode. It was 8PM, the shop he was in was almost sold out, and he had to be back in dorms in half an hour if he didn't want to be locked out on cold.

So far, he was in three shops, neither of them having anything suitable. He desperately looked over the mostly empty shelves where all the possible gifts used to be, the disadvantage of last-minute shopping.

Well done, Shirabu, you managed to disappoint Semi in every aspect. What a great boyfriend you are.

He was about to leave and try his luck in the last shop in the street when he noticed a small box on the lowest shelf. It was partially hidden from the view and full of cartoonish looking animal keychains. The one on top caught his eye. It was in the shape of a white eagle playing an electric guitar.

Just like Semi.

He grabbed the keychain and ran to the cash register.

To say Valentine's Day on Shiratorizawa was chaotic was an understatement. Shirabu was wakened up by someone screaming excitedly a few rooms away, followed shortly after by Taichi stealing his blanket to get him out of the bed, so they could be among the first people in the cafeteria. He didn't see Semi at breakfast, meaning he was probably still deep in slumber. They spotted Ushijima, the always early-bird, and Yamagata, whose whole face lit up when he saw Taichi heading towards him.

"Happy Valentine's Day, sweetie," he exclaimed as soon as Taichi sat down, giving him a kiss on the cheek. Taichi rolled his eyes.

"Happy Valentine's Day, but I told you not to call me that."

Hayato laughed and put on his best guilty eyes.

"I'm so sorry. What can I do to expiate it?"

"Be ready at 10 o'clock. We are going out."
