"Shivaay, we're leaving to pick up Aishwarya's sister," Omkara Singh Oberoi said to his brother.
Shivaay shrugged, continuing to smile at Adi. "Shivaay, did you hear me?" Om asked, annoyed. Shivaay looked up. "Om, I don't give a damn about where you go, okay? I'm leaving for Manav's house this afternoon, so I won't see her anyways."
Adi looked up at his uncle. "Bale Papa, are you weaving Adi baby?" he asked cutely, little tears glistening in his eyes. Shivaay picked his nephew up. "No, bacha! I'm just going to my friend's house and I'll be back at night to sleep with you and Tinu!" he tried convincing. Adi pouted. "Pwomish, Bale Papa?"
"Promise, beta! Now, go to Papa! You have to pick up your new friend from the airport!" Shivaay said, handing Adi to Om, who accepted his son with a bear hug. "Ahh! Adi is back with Papa!" Om said joyously. Adi looked from his Papa to Shivaay with a longing gaze, but he stayed snug in Om's embrace nonetheless.
"Are my boys ready to go pick up Adi's Maasi?" Aishwarya asked, appearing beside her husband and son. "Yesh, Mumma," Om responded in a baby voice in place of Adi, who was still staring at Shivaay. "Then let's go!" Aishwarya said cheerily.
Shivaay was just leaving for Manav's house when a bright voice rang through the house. "Aishu, this house is ek level up. Ek kya, this house is teen chaar level up!" it said. Shivaay lifted his gaze to see a young woman with straight black hair, joyous brown eyes, and a beautiful smile. In her arms was Adi, who was giggling at the woman's weird ways of describing things. "Oh, Adi baby is laughing at Annika?"
"Ann, you're spoiling him. Just let him call you Maasi, what's the big deal?" Aishwarya said as she stepped in the house. "Aishu, I'm too young and hot to be called Maasi! And I will always be my Adi's friend before his Mumma's step-sister. Right, baby?" she cooed. Unbeknownst to himself, Shivaay smiled at the woman's weird antics.
"Annika, Annika!" Adi shouted once his eyes fell on his ever favorite family member. "Yes, Adi baby?"
"Look at! There's my Bale Papa!" Adi said, twisting Annika's face to look at Shivaay. Shivaay inwardly cringed. Oh, how he hated social interaction. "Hi there, Adi's infamous Bade Papa!" Annika said with a smile that made Shivaay smile in return.
Annika didn't take a moment's notice of Shivaay, and turned back to Adi, asking him to show her around the house later, to which the four-year-old nodded happily.
"Alright, Annika. The upstairs room, first one to your right is going to be the one where you'll stay. Tomorrow, you can meet all of my in-laws," Aishwarya instructed, taking Adi from Annika's hands. "Kay. Thanks, Aishu. You're literally a life-saver!"
"Mhm, no problem, sis!"
Shivaay watched Annika take her luggage to the staircase and pretend to haul the two suitcases with much effort, making Adi laugh. Annika turned and her pretty face flew into a breathtaking smile directed at her nephew. Since Adi was in Aishwarya's arms, behind Shivaay, Shivaay felt the awe-inspiring smile was for him, and the thought made him slightly light-headed.
"Shivaay, you can go to your friend's house," Aishwarya said, breaking him from his stupor. Humming in response, Shivaay threw on his jacket and left the house, not bothering to look back at the pretty new guest at Oberoi Mansion, lest he lose his senses once again.
