Five hundred and six years later.
The secret castle excavation site; Somewhere in Eastern Europe.
Professor Giles Hennessey of the University of Los Angeles found himself alone at castle excavation site all the other students and archaeologists had gone back down to the campsite for their dinner and then to sleep. Although on the brink of exhaustion he had decided to continue in the slow and careful removal of the blocks and rubble that had blocked the only entrance to the still standing eastern tower. The castle had been bothering him since there arrival three days earlier, it was as if he had taken leave of his senses this had to be the place he had not slept since they had started the excavation works. Finally starving hungry Hennessey headed back to his tent where he grabbed a glass and a bottle of whiskey and settle down to read his grandfathers journal and to enter his findings into his own.
It took another six days of backbreaking slow work to finally remove all of the rubble from the entrance and the stair well, over the next five days Doctor Alyssa Fairchild worked slowly and methodically to catalogue and photograph the entire area whilst she worked she felt like she was being watched the entire place gave her the creeps at night she could swear she heard a female voices calling her name, she was beginning to wish that she had never agreed to coming on this excavation.
On the sixth day Professor Hennessey and his assistant Nathaniel Matthews Slowly stepped under the tower archway and started to slowly and cautiously climb up the crumbling stair case; something on the far wall caught his eye, he turned around for a closer look and almost stopped breathing he had found her on the wall a sentence had been scratched into the stone work it read.
IN DISGRACE HERE LIES IMPRISSONED ERZEBET BATHORY.
A smile appeared on Hennessey's face as he continued to slowly climb the stairs followed by Matthews. His excitement grew as they came to the last turn on the staircase only to instantly plummet, the entrance to the chamber had also been walled up. Disappointment settled upon his once jovial mood leaving him severely displeased.
Nathaniel Matthews sighed in relief he had been worried about what they may have discovered behind the walled up chamber somebody had gone to a lot of trouble to hide whatever secrets it hid. He and his other colleagues had noticed the strange behaviour of Professor Hennessey since the beginning of this excavation. He was relieved that it would take another week at the most to carefully secure the area and then to slowly hoist all of the stone slabs safely down the staircase.
Later that evening Nathaniel found it hard to sleep, he heard Hennessey moving back and forward muttering under his breath as he moved around his tent. Sitting up he took out his journal and was about to record that days findings when he heard a rustling noise outside of his tent curiosity getting the better of him he laid his journal on the ground and crawled out of his tent he could just make out a shadowy wraith like figure stumbling around in the darkness, whoever it was seemed to be heading for the castle excavation site, Nathaniel picked up his torch and headed outside and slowly started after the person. As he drew closer to the ruins he saw that is was Alyssa Fairchild, it looked like she was sleepwalking, she seemed to hesitate at the entrance to the stairwell that lead up to the walled in chamber.
Alyssa Fairchild's eyes flew open and an fear seized her that voice, it was the voice from her dreams, she realised she was stood at the stairs to that tower, confusion filled her she had been sleeping in her tent and had no idea of how she had got here, all of a sudden her body started to shake and she felt compelled to climb up the crumbling stairs as she started to climb her foot slipped and she fell forward her head smashing into the stairs and everything went black.
