"Sources informed the royal guards that the French would attack during the dead of night tomorrow, sire." One of the Royal Guards informed us, "Very well, prepare the troops for battle." 

I turned to the inner circle, "Everybody should get some rest in preparation for the events tomorrow." 

They started to leave  the room when Lucius Malfoy approached me, "Sources tell me otherwise, your Majesty." 

"What do you mean, Mr. Malfoy?" He handed me a slip of paper and when I opened it, I immediately recognized my daughter's handwriting.

Father, 

I apologize for leaving the school grounds abruptly but I need you to finish this letter before reacting harshly.

I had entered the Castle through the secret door for the Mermaids, although, prior to entering, I had heard voices talking and discovered the actual plan of the French Kingdom.

They plan to attack at dawn but father, do not trust anyone except for those who are family. A traitor is amongst those of who you trust. 

I assume they were also there when Calcifer was brutally murdered by those monsters, I have a guess as to who it is but I cannot disclose as to who it is yet.

Although, I'm certain you have a clue as to who it is.

They will be attacking Hogwarts at dawn, by the time you are reading this, I'm on my way back to Hogwarts. 

I'll hold them back as much as I can, do not worry about Elione, I'll make sure she is safe before I fight for our kingdom. 

I had taken my grandfather's sword with me as well as dark magic spell books, I plan on killing the rat and the French King with the sword of my grandfather.

"A smart girl she is, she enchanted the paper to sense whether the person is trustworthy or not, and if it decides on the latter, it turns blank." Mr. Malfoy musses, "That's my girl, a future leader." 

"Can you perform a spell to see who has been down to the Mermaid passage the last few hours?" I asked Mr. Malfoy, knowing of his talent, "Of course, it might take a while though." 

"That's alright, I have to discuss this with my wife." I nodded to him and walked off to find my wife.

"Oh, my baby." Hera had a hand over her mouth and tears formed in her eyes, Mrs. Malfoy had an arm around her shoulders as a form of comfort. 

I knew the Malfoy's were people we could trust, they had different beliefs but they were loyal. 

"I know, my love, but we must act accordingly, we have to think of who could possibly want our Kingdom to fall." I kissed her head and wiped her tears away with a handkerchief.

"She's just a child, she shouldn't have to worry about such things! I'll destroy whoever is behind this, exposing our children to such horrors." Hera was now seething with rage, even I was seething with rage.

"We'll find whoever is behind this, Hera, I promise you that." Narcissa said, deep down I knew they saw us as family and as we did with them.

"Thank you, Narcissa. Lucius is in my study as of this moment, trying to find who was in the Mermaid passage prior to Y/n." I started pacing and thinking of who could possibly betray us and even put my children in danger. 

"I have a clue as to who it is, but I am not certain." Hera had said after a moment of silence.

"I remember your father mentioning this to my father, prior to our marriage. He had mentioned a boy he took in, he seemed to be an orphan, that boy, but your father took pity on him and trained him to be the best warrior the kingdom has ever seen." She started, "The boy had left when he was merely 13 and found his family, he had returned a few years later to serve the kingdom that took him in when he was nothing and turned him into something." 

"You don't mean...?" she sighed and wiped a stray tear, "Yes, him."

"That would explain Calcifer's death, he was the first one on the scene and he had called for backup, and let's not forget the incident at Beauxbaton, he knew he needed to get Elione to make him seem trustworthy." I reminisced.

"I'm sorry but who are we talking about?" Narcissa asked confused, "The man I foolishly trusted with my life and my family's life." 

She gasped and looked around the room, "That would explain why he isn't around as of this moment."

"We have to wait for Lucius to confirm, let's not rush instead we should prepare the troops for battle, gather everyone we can trust, use the paper to our advantage."

"As you've probably made well aware, we fight at dawn, at Hogwarts. On the other note, there is a rat among us, everyone in this group can be trusted and anyone, not present, you can take a guess. Prepare for battle, we will fight for our kingdom, for the innocent, and for those we've lost." 

I've finished my speech when Lucius came rushing in the room, "I know who the traitor is." 

"W-who is it?" Hera asked eagerly, the room had gone silent and everyone was now interested in the new discovery.

"It's the head of the royal guards, Aldred. He's the traitor."
