Third Person
"Over there!""He's heading to the water!"
"Get him!"
The young boy peered out his bedroom window at the chaos. Boats on the water, flashlights covering the grounds of the island.
"S.Q! S.Q! Come over here and help me!" Jackson yelled at him.
S.Q turned back to the young boy, who was older than him by two years. Next to him, laying on the ground was a crying infant.
"Well of course she's crying!" S.Q cried in dismay. "You need to hold her!"
The young Messenger picked her up with upmost care. Mr. Curtain had put the two of them in charge of babysitting while the Helpers helped with whatever chaos was going on outside.
"I'm not holding that spoiled brat!" Jackson bit back. He crossed his arms proudly over his chest.
S.Q turned his back to him and rolled his eyes. Bouncing the baby girl in his arms and making cooing sounds.
When her crying turned into a small burbling he smiled at her.
"What pretty blue eyes you have. I bet they'll turn green in no time." S.Q said quietly to her.
"That's not how it works! Her eyes will still be blue!" Jackson told him. "Besides, she's not that cute. She looks like a potato."
"That is how it works. All babies eyes are blue." He argued. "Unless her mom has blue eyes they'll most likely turn green, if not brown."
"Hmmfpt."
"And she does not look like a potato!"
"Whatever you want to believe Sasquatch."
"Stop calling me that!"
The two argued until S.Q realized it was making the baby upset. He gave up fighting but that didn't stop Jackson from throwing out a few more insults.
"Sleep, little child, sleep,
Outside, there's walking a sheep," S.Q sang quietly to the girl."What on earth are you doing now?" Jackson groaned. S.Q ignored him and picked up the girl's stuffed sheep laying on his bed.
"A sheep with tiny white feet,
Who's drinking his milk so sweet.Sleep, little child, sleep,
Outside there's walking a sheep.""What. The. Actual. Heck."
"Sleep, little child, sleep,
Outside, there's walking a sheep,
A sheep with tiny white feet,
Who's drinking his milk so sweet,
Milk from the spotted cow,
The little child closes his- err- her eyes." S.Q finished.Just then they heard a loud knock on their door. Jackson jumped up and opened it. It was Mr. Curtain himself.
"You know Dutch lullabies?" He asked looking at S.Q.
"Yes sir."
"Ah. Perhaps I should let you watch her more often." Mr. Curtain's green eyes seemed to glitter with pride. He motioned for the child to be handed to him.
He moved his wheelchair back towards the door as if to exit, then stopped.
"Well?" He said impatiently.
"Well what sir?" S.Q asked.
"Aren't you coming? You're still to watch the girl are you not?"
"Oh, of course sir!" He said quickly. He followed after the man with a smile on his face. He rather liked this job. Especially after seeing the look Jackson had on his face after they left.
Whatever chaos was outside was forgotten, left to be watched from the windows.
