how it should have gone

it started off as a normal day for dear tobio, waking up getting ready eating breakfast and heading to school. nothing outta the ordinary, but things were going to get messy.

tobio arrived to school on time and to practice, he did warm ups and receiving drills, well of course asking oikawa to teach him his serve and always receiving a no. after practice he went to class nothing out of the ordinary there. as he went to after noon practice though, things got crazy. he stayed back to practice spiking with oikawa san when suddenly his hand started to burn like someone was drowning it in lava. he dropped down to the floor with tears in his eyes and then he passed out. 

when he woke up he was in the infirmary covered in sweat and beside him was oikawa and iwaizumi.  "hey kageyama how are you feeling?" iwaizumi asked gently like he was afraid he was gonna run away. "i feel fine, what happened?" tobio asked. "look at your wrist" oikawa hissed out, tobio looked at his wrist and saw his soulmates names oikawa tooru and iwaizumi hajime

he was surprised to say the least and that's when he realized what was gonna happen, "you're gonna reject me aren't you?" he said sadly but not surprised "well ya, we already have our bond and it feels weird adding to it-" iwaizumi started but kageyama cut him off "its ok i get it, i was sorta expecting it to so ill put up a wall when i get home" he said and walked away saying goodbye to his senpais for the night. 

once he got home he put up a wall and his soul marks disappeared, it was like he never had them in the first place. after that he ignored the wall but not his senpais he just acted as if nothing ever happened that night, and when people asked who his soulmates were he said "oh i haven't met them yet who knows maybe they live in another country" much to oikawa and iwaizumis relief.  

after a few years he ended up in karasuno, his team was much more welcoming then his old one and he felt like they were actually family, so when the topic of soulmates came up he openly shared his story of rejection yet didn't shed a single tear for the two of them. it honestly shocked his team but they supported him nonetheless. 

soon they beat seijoh and were going up against shiratorizawa, tobio had long forgotten about his soulmates, even after playing them in the semi-finals. he didn't give a single thought to them as he played shiratorizawa. he had noticed them in the stands but chose to ignore them then as well. finally they had won and his team was screaming with joy as the stadium roared in aw!

but of course it didn't last as iwaizumi and oikawa came up to congratulate him and of course ruin his day. " hey kageyama we just wanted to congratulate you on your win" iwa said as he walked up to him, by now the entire stadium had their eyes on the three athletes with karasuno scowling at them. the cameras of course had also moved to catch the drama between the three former teammates. 

"oh thanks iwaizumi san" kageyama said and was about to go back to his team when he was stopped yet again.

"hey we wanted to talk to you about something! we just wanted to apologize about rejecting you and want to give this relationship a try since we never did give it a chance" iwa said again

"no thanks." kageyama said nonchalantly

"w-hat?! what do you mean no?" oikawa asked this time, finally he said something

"i mean no. you wanna hear it in spanish? no" 

the stadium started chuckling and some were full of howling at the exchange, when kageyama noticed the shocked looks on his ex upper classmens faces he decided to push this further.

"oh wait was that no the response you were looking for?" he said in a sarcastic tone

"here let me start over" he said taking a deep breath in, everyone went silent wanting to ehar what the younger would say.

"OMG!!!! oikawa and iwaizumi senpai! your seriously giving me a chance!!!! omg i won't let you down thank you so much!!!!" he said ina high pitched voice then fake cried and fell into back into iwaizumis arms. karasuno was howling and so was shiratorizawa, though a certin ace was looking a bit jealous.

as kageyama picked him self back up he turned around again "better? i mean thats what you wanted right? for me to act like some damsel in distress all depressed and desprete after you rejected me. like i couldn't live without you so when you decided you actually want me in your bond i would fall to my knees thanking you for your 'kindness and for giving me mercy so i don't end up alone for the rest of my life'? ya right i'm not one of your fan girls" 

"NO SHADE TO YOU QUEENS THOUGH! YOU DO YOU, BUT I WOULD RECCOMMEND MOVING ON FROM OIKAWA SAN HE IS A HUGE PLAYER" he screamed in the stadium making a bunch of girls bend over laughing. 

"wait kageyama! why won't you just give it a chance!" iwaizumi said

"because you said you wanted to give it a chance not me, and besides what i already mentioned you didn't want to give me a chance in middle school so why should i give you a chance now? plus its clear oikawa san still doesn't like me at all considering throughout ever conversation we have all had over soulmates he has only said one sentence to contribute." kageyama says scowling at oikawa 

"now if you'll excuse me" kageyama then walks over to shiratorizawa grabs ushijima by the coller and kisses him.  oikawa and iwaizumi stare is shock while the stadium cheers for them, ushijima wakatoshi part if the 3% of people without soulmates and kageyama tobio a rejected soulmate. 

not only karasuno was happy though, kunimi and kindaichi the only other people kageyama told about his soulmate situation were excited for him since they knew he didn't truly belong with oikawa and iwaizumi and never approved, and miwa of course was getting a party ready for her brother with their cousins kita and bokuto. 

fast forward a few hours kageyama, iwaizumi, oikawa and ushijima all feel a sting on their wrists, and low and behold oikawa nd iwaizumis marks had changed with kageyams name permanently being gone and ushijima and kageyama got each others names on their wrists.
