I find it quite interesting how we know best where we are headed exactly when we are lost.
We have the best sense of orientation the moment we lose it.
If you think about it, I am right. Let's say you are lost. You followed a path and then you lost track of where you were. Except you knew precisely where you were going, you knew it better than when you were most lucid : you were aware you went the wrong way.
When you knew where you were headed, you didn't realise you were lost. But when you went the wrong direction, you knew accurately just how astray you really were.
