Waking up

Her heart pounds in her chest, her body trembling as she opens her green eyes to the metallic clanking and the hard, cold surface against her body. She coughs, gasping for air. Her fingers cling to the metal chain floor as she pulls herself up onto her knees.

Her pale, green eyes look down through the metal floor, her light brown hair draped down her shoulder. When she notices the odd feeling of being pulled upward. She lifts her head and glances around, seeing the metal walls and ceiling, the terrifying realization that there's no way out surfacing. She gets to her feet shakily, confusion and fear swirling around in her chest.

"How did I get here?"

She whispers to herself, trying to remember what got her here in this box in the first place. She closed her eyes to concentrate, but couldn't recall anything before the box. Now that she thinks about it, she can't remember anything at all. Her mind was an empty space, and when she thought she felt a memory, it quickly faded away. This frustrated her, because she knows she has to have had a life, a family, friends, but none of it was there. Anything from her past was erased, and she didn't know why. The only memory she could grasp on to and hold was her name.

But her thinking was abruptly interrupted by a red flashing light coming from above, and the box pulling her upwards and shifting around. This caused her to lose her balance, and she fell back against a crate that seemed to break her fall. Leaning against the crate she stands up, regaining her balance. She breathes heavily and her trembling hands wring together, just wanting to get out of this place.

She didn't think she was claustrophobic, but this place definitely made her feel like the walls were closing in on her. What if she never gets out of here? And she's stuck until she starves to death? Is this a dream? Maybe she can wake herself up. She pinches her arm, hoping to leave this place. But nothing happened, and she was still in this metal box with a red light blinking.

Suddenly, the box shifts around again, causing the crate behind her to slide against one of the walls. Her body gets slammed against the wall at the movement, the breath getting knocked out of her lungs. She goes face first into another crate as she falls forward, and then the box comes to an abrupt stop and she crumples to the floor. Her head, now spinning from the impact, also throbs from a gash splitting above her eyebrow, it stops at her nose.

Blood drips down from the gash and she grunts, attempting to bring herself up from the ground with whatever strength she had left. Getting onto her knees, she crawls over to a box. She uses it for support and grabs onto it, bringing her up to her feet. Her legs shake and her head throbs even more.

Above, a light starts to shine through the box and she squints her eyes to keep it from blinding her as she looks up. Her eyes adjust to the light, and a few figures appear in her view, along with many others behind them. Mumbles and whispers can be heard.
