"It's the tearing sound of love-notes coming out these rusted windows."
-Cubicles, My Chemical Romance.

---

The sunset rays shone, striking directly through the windows of a certain club room. For once, the club room was quiet. One would believe that the place was vacant, but in reality it isn't.

A familiar blunette and blonde individuals were sitting face to face. They were silent, unsure of what to say to each other. The tension grew heavy as they both kept their mouths shut and not even wanting to start a conversation.

Well, both of them do want to break the ice but starting an awkward conversation might just make it worse. What even happened, you may ask? The quick answer would be nothing, it was quite stupid to be honest. It was just their friends having to go out and leaving the two alone.

But either way, wouldn't it be better to just take this awkward silence away?

"Kourin-san,"

"Aichi,"

The both of them stopped when they realized they spoke at the same time. It was then that they both shared a laugh at this silly coincidence.

"Y-you can go first, Kourin-san." Aichi suggested.

"Um, you should probably..." Kourin said.

"I-It's nothing important anyways, so..." The blunette scratched the nape of his neck and his face blushed a red tomato. "Go ahead."

"Well..." Kourin's heartbeat immediately beat fast, her blood rushed as her cheeks and ears blushed and she looked down. The unconditional love she had for this young man was too much for her to handle anymore.

When Kourin looked at his face, his sapphire blue eyes that shines like a rare gemstone, his kind and gentle smile, and his overall friendly and caring personality... By his appearance, at first Kourin thought that he wasn't her type. He looked so much younger than her so of course she never felt anything towards Aichi. But as they grew closer, she realized that appearance wasn't always the factor, it was his personality that she grew to like about him. And now that they're friends and they grew closer, she did realize that she was in love with this man; Aichi Sendou.

But she knows for a fact that these feelings may be one-sided, maybe it really is. Aichi isn't the romantic type after all, and of course his acts of kindness towards her are just as it is. Kourin knows that, but she still hopes... she hopes that maybe Aichi likes her too.

"Kourin-san?" Aichi called her out of her train of thoughts and Kourin nearly jumped off her seat. Kourin looked back at him and saw his curious and confused expression.

How naive, she thinks. And that's one of the things that Kourin thought that he was as cute as a little blueberry.

Kourin gulped down her saliva, she couldn't hold her feelings in anymore and she took a deep breath before looking at the man in front of her.

"Aichi... Actually, there's something... That I need to tell you." She said. There's no turning back now...

"What is it, Kourin-san?" Aichi looked at her with the same gentle smile he usually gives.

"I... I..." Kourin gulped down her saliva before she looked at Aichi and spoke. "I like you."

"Eh?" Aichi was shocked to hear what Kourin just said. She likes him?! He thought and didn't know what to say. His eyes widened in shock and his mouth agape from what the blonde had told him.

"I-It's... I've always been in love with you ever since... during that time in Singapore." Kourin said. "But I just didn't know when I should tell you. And now... I-I told you how I feel."

She wanted to tell him everything, every single reason about why she loves him. But it seemed like the cat's got her tongue, and she could only say a few words. Countable sentences to be exact.

Now she waits for his reply.

"Kourin-san..." Aichi suddenly felt bad, he had never felt the same as Kourin. And he knew about how it really hurts when someone gets rejected, but he had to do this. He likes her as a friend, nothing else. Even though this might hurt her, and him as well, since their friendship was also at risk.

The blunette had to bow down in apology. Kourin already knew what this meant, and her heart already broke. "I-I'm sorry, Kourin-san. I appreciate how you feel b-but... I-I can't reciprocate those feelings... I'm really sorry..."

"It's okay, Aichi... it's okay..." Kourin forced herself not to cry and just took a deep breath and gave a smile at Aichi, watching him as he stood up again. It wasn't wise for her to cry over a stupid, little thing thing like this. She had to keep her composure, or else Aichi would feel bad about rejecting her.

"You don't have to apologize. I just really wanted to tell you what I feel, and I'm glad that I was able to tell this all to you. It was just... bugging me ever since, and I felt like letting this all out." She told him.

"W-Will we still be friends though? Since I heard from Emi that friendships sometimes get ruined because of this..." Aichi asked worryingly, not wanting his relationship with Kourin to be tainted.

"Of course, we'll still be friends no matter what. Besides, why should we stop being friends just because I confessed to you?" Kourin spoke and she crossed her arms. "Seriously, that's a very bad take..."

"Ah- Ahaha..." Aichi only let out an awkward laugh, scratching the back of his head. "So uh... w-wanna play Vanguard?"

"Sure." Kourin nodded and smiled. Although this hurt her, she still felt happy that she was able to confess to Aichi, even if he had to reject her and in a nice way of course. Really, that personality of Aichi is what made her fall in love with him in the first place. But now, maybe she should move on and just think of him as one of the friends that she treasures.

Even though it hurt every single bit of her entirety, it was the best thing to do. It was the wisest thing to do on her part. But what about Aichi? Even though it was assured that they'll still be friends, would this turn awkward for the both of them? Would everything change for the better, or for the worst?

Author's Note: Hey guys!! This is a new story that I made and I feel like doing something different this time. I asked myself what if Aichi rejects Kourin and then Kourin starts to like someone else (e.g. a character or an original character) what would happen? This idea has been in my head ever since I wrote about AiKou and I'm actually happy how the first chapter turned out! I hope you guys like this and see you guys in the next chapter!
