We were almost out of the bank, I glanced at my watch, the get away car would be here any second. This was already a really risky plan from the start but I needed the money, my family and I were getting nowhere. It was just my mom, my little sister and me. My dad up and abandoned us, my mom was disabled and couldn't work, and my job wasn't paying enough to take care of us. It was really hard and things were so bad that a few of my trusted friends and I did a really risky thing like drive all the way to a remote state, with only two major banks in it. I had a long distant friend that lived in the town we were in and promised them a part of the cut for all the information that we needed. The three of us were in the bank, covered in all blacks, masks, gloves you name it; and our get away driver was the long distant friend. I heard tires screech and looked to my left.
"Car's here!! Let's get the fuck out of here!!" I yelled to my partners in crime. They ran towards me and we all piled into the car. It was really late, almost 1 am in this state. It was incredibly dark, and we had a minute and a half to get off the only main road to the drop off spot where we would all change cars.
"It's going to be really close." I said to everyone in the car. I could see the lights from the cop cars coming up from a side road near the bank. 30 seconds I thought to myself. My right leg started shaking, he was flooring it as fast as possible, we were going 85 and it still didn't feel fast enough. Nothing ever happens in this god forsaken town, so you'd think that it wouldn't be much of a problem, but it was. We didn't trip any alarms when we came in, nobody else was there except one night guard that always slept for at least an hour on the job, that's how crime free this town is. Something happened in there that made this less of an easy escape. My crew and I spent 4 days staking out the town and the bank. One of my partners even managed to have a one night stand with a manager that worked there that had access to the vault and the safe. We mapped out all cameras inside the bank and outside if the state had even sprung for any, my partner got her tp tell him almost everything about the bank, we found out how many people would be working, how the traffic flow within the bank was. We covered all of our bases except one.
As I glanced once more at the bank shrinking in the distance we finally turned off the main road and into a side street that had some houses on it. The second to last house on the left side of the street is where we would finally be able to change cars. There's an alley between the second and third to last houses, which is why it was a perfect place to dump the getaway car. We all piled out quietly, shutting the doors with the cash in hand. The long distance friend's car was hidden a few feet from the get away car and ours was hidden on the other side of the dark house. We all stopped by the friend's car, looking around to see any nosy neighbors and finished up our business.
"Alright it's going to take us about 10 hours to get back, once there we'll take care or everything and I'll wire you your cut, 15 grand like we agreed. Don’t go looking for it constantly, don't want to attract any unwanted attention and don't forget to lay low for a while. If you travel, go by car and keep it nice and normal." I told him. He nodded and we shook hands and parted ways, we all piled into our cars and drove separate ways. It wouldn't take long for us to reach the end of the county line and from there we'd be on the highway for a few hours.
"I can't wait to take off this goddamn mask." Hoseok said. I chuckled.
"Yeah this mask is pretty stifling." I said as I pulled mine off. The cool air rushed against my face and I wiped the sweat from my forehead. Hoseok pulled off his mask and Yoongi pulled his off as well.
"I can't believe that fucking worked." He laughed and I shook my head in shock that we had actually pulled it off. I looked back at Hoseok as he let out a small laugh from the back seat and looked into the bags.
"Tae what happened back there? There wasn't as much time as there was supposed to be." Yoongi asked. I shook my head.
"I really don't know, I've been going over everything in my head and still can't fucking figure out how our time window closed so fast. I've been over it in my head and I still can't put my finger on it."
"Well as long as we got the money, there isn't anything to be that worried about, right?" Hoseok said. I nodded, and heard the rustling of the duffels as he put them in the secret compartments we had installed in the car, solely for this heist. I don't even know how Yoongi installed these damn hiding places but they were concealed perfectly, underneath a couple floor mats and an extra place within the trunk. It was accessible from the back seat but unnoticeable when the trunk gets opened. It's absolutely insane, but really cool. We pulled onto the on ramp for the highway and merged into traffic.
Four hours into the drive, we pulled off the ramp and found a motel to call it a night. We parked the car in a more secluded area, grabbed our masks, and changed from our all black clothes, into regular civilian clothes. We all put our hats into a backpack, I discarded my black sweater and kept the black jeans and shoes, Yoongi just changed his under shirt to a white one and put on a grey beanie and Hoseok changed his shoes, shirt and put on a snapback. We put all discarder clothes into the back pack, locked up the car and headed inside the motel.
As we walk in we see a girl reading a magazine, with an earbud in one ear as she reclined in a folding chair with her feet on the counter. She didn't seem to notice us walk in so I tapped her on the shoe lightly. She looked up at me a bit startled and somewhat flustered that we caught her at such an unprofessional moment.
"I'm so sorry!" She said as she stood up quickly and took her earbud out. "We don't get many people here this late, I wasn't even paying any attention…" She said as a blush covered her cheeks. I just smiled at her.
"You're good, I'm not worried. Could we get a room, with the biggest bed you've got?" I asked. She was taken aback for a moment.
"I'm sorry, we don't have beds that size, but I could put you in a room with two bed and a couch, if that'll be okay?" She responded. I nodded at her.
"Yeah, that's fine. How much?"
"That room will be $275 for the night. Cash or card?"
"I'll pay in cash." She gave us the key and we went looking for the room.
"Room 10. Alright guys, this is our stop for the night." I said as I opened the door. As soon as we stepped in, all the exhaustion just weighed down on me. I kicked my shoes off and sank into the couch. Hoseok and Yoongi took the beds. As soon as the lights were out, I crashed into a heavy sleep.
