When Remus and I made our pact back in second year, I didn't think that four years later it was looking more and more likely that we were going to have to hold each other to it.

Everyone else seemed to be lucky-in-love. Tia had been in more relationships than I have fingers, Evie had had the same boyfriend since third year and Josie had every boy bowing at her feet wherever she walked. James Potter might not have gained Lily's undivided attention, but that didn't mean girls didn't drool whenever he looked in their direction. Even Remus' God-awful friend, Sirius, was with a girl at every corner I turned. His female equal also turned heads, particularly on the Quidditch pitch, and I was growing more frustrated every day that McKinnon's distraction tactics of flirtation — which she pulled off so easily — were something I couldn't even dream of doing.
