This account was taken from my very own journal. I, Aaron Burr, hereby swear that everything you are about to read is completely true.
Our story begins in the middle of another. As most common people know Hamilton was approached by who everyone believes was Mariah Reynolds and her husband but I have evidence to prove otherwise. You see there's two of Mariah, she has a twin. This twin, Melissa Clement, had a horrible hatred toward Mariah and with the help of James Reynolds, her reputation went up in smoke.
One summer evening, Melissa, disguised as her sister coarses Hamilton into the affair. The historical letter to Hamilton is written and the two got what they wanted. Melissa had the setup to destroy her sister and James got money. He could have stopped this and saved his wife but money seemed to have been more important.
In hopes of more money Reynolds tipped Madison and Jefferson who then brought the scandal to me, our decision to confront Hamilton sent him spiraling deeper into his own demise.
And so, the Reynolds Pamphlet was written. During this James and Melissa traveled far away with the money. Mariah, whom of which was returning from a trip herself, came back to an empty home and awful glares from people on the streets.
In amidst the distress and confusion she managed to pick up a copy of the Reynolds Pamphlet and was disgusted. Poor Mariah did not know if she should be mad at Hamilton or her husband.
She wandered the streets late at night, she felt truly helpless. The sound of a crackling fire and wonderful singing filled her ears. She parted through a hedge to find the source of the sound, to her shock it was Elizabeth Hamilton, better known as Eliza, burning Hamilton's love letters.
"You! What are you doing here, you ruined my love and life!" Eliza showed anger through her tears.
"I-I can explain, or at least I think. Please, hear me out." Mariah pleaded with Eliza.
Eliza, being a kindhearted woman who wanted answers was more than eager to listen but she did not dare to show that.
"Let's hear it then." Eliza takes a deep breath, mentally preparing herself for what could come.
"The woman you have been told is me is not me. She is my twin sister. I also believe my husband has something to do with this as he left me this note-" Mariah pauses and unfolds a tattered piece of paper, handing it to Eliza.
It read,
"Dear Mariah Clement,
I have done something most normal men cannot fathom. I have betrayed you. Your sister promised blackmail to be released about the both of us if I did not comply. Therefore I'm afraid I must leave this town and you. Take some of the money I left and start a good life for yourself. Do not dwell on me for I have ruined your life. Goodbye my love.
Sincerely, James Reynolds."
"Attached with the letter is a divorce notice-" Mariah felt a sharp pain in her chest knowing her sister would do something like this.
"I-I'm so sorry..." Eliza gives the girl a small comforting smile.
"Thank you for listening and understanding." Mariah wipes a tear off her cheek and sniffles slightly.
"No problem." Eliza responds solemnly. With that Mariah leaves the Hamilton's backyard,"If there's anything I can do please do not hesitate to come and visit." Eliza calls out after the girl.
Mariah simply nods and continues her walk back home. The two of them parted feeling something- different about eachother that neither could put their finger on. At least not yet._____________
