About six months after everything in Percy’s life went downhill, he got called to Olympus. Hermes flashed himself and Percy to the throne room, or the expensive chair room as Percy liked to call it, for the meeting. Politely, he kneeled, “Why have I been summoned by the council?”
All the gods and goddesses were stunned, never before has Percy Jackson shown respect towards the Olympians. When Poseidon gathered his wits, he was shocked to say the least, his son, his pride and joy, was a bag of bones, with no gleam in his seagreen eyes that was once there. “Percy, my boy, what happened?”
“I was summoned father, why am I here?”
“Well,” Zeus took control over the conversation, “it has come to our attention that you have lost the will and desire to live, can you please explain?”
“Does it really matter? It’s not like I’m doing anything about my depressing life, anyways, since when have any of you cared about a demigods will or desire to live? We’re just your pawns.”
All the Olympians were taken aback, “Perseus,” Hera started, “we are deeply concerned about you. We have been watching our children more closely since the war with Gaea ended, and we see all of our other children out and about at camp, but you never come out of your cabin, why?”
“No one cares about me Lady Hera.”
“Why is that Perseus,” Artemis took over.
“Can’t you feel it? His love broke his heart, and the campers show no love towards him, except for three, so of course he has lost his will and desire to live!” Surprisingly, Aphrodite was the one to say this.
“Perseus, I have a proposition for you,” Artemis started, pausing, waiting for Percy to acknowledge her, when he lifted his head in her direction, she continued, “since the end of the war with Gaea, all sorts of monsters have been resurfacing, and some of them are far too powerful to simply be killed with bows and arrows like most of my hunters use, we could use someone with your expertise and experience of wielding a sword on our side. So, Perseus, would you like to be the guardian of the hunters of Artemis?” Everyone in the room of expensive chairs had their mouths dropped in shock, even young Perseus. “What?” Artemis questioned, “No hero should have to live like this, and besides, Perseus is the only male that I respect. So what do you say?”
“I accept Lady Artemis.”
“Good, now Perseus, I will bless you with the same blessing that I give to all of my hunters,” and with that, a silver beam of light engulfed Percy.
Aphrodite giggled, “Can we all bless Percy?”
Zeus shrugged, “I don’t see why not,” and suddenly, there were another twelve beams of colored light engulfing him, but there was no gold beam, Zeus seemed to take this into account, “Apollo, why did you not bless young Perseus?”
“My blessing would not do him any good as he is already awesome at music, like if he wasn’t your kid Uncle P, he probably would be mine.”
“Very well, Percy, go and pack the things that you want/need from camp, and meet the hunters and I at our campsite in the Outer Banks, North Carolina,” with that, Percy disappeared in a flash of silver light, curtesy of Artemis, and the meeting was dismissed.
