(Forgot to mention Carlos speaks a little Spanish)

Hazel rubbed her eyes, the light of the sun weighed on her honey brown skin. Where am I, she thought to herself as she looked around, her eyes were still a little hazy and all she could remember last night was that she came to her first party. The room she was in was well-decorated with greys and whites and the comfy grey couch she woke up on had been presented with three pillows, the one she had been hugging was now tainted with a little bit of drool. Yuck, Hazel thought to herself, wiping a strand of her hair off her face. The smell of freshly made pancakes welcomed her in with open arms.
'Lookin' good querida' a familiar voice had greeted her, Hazel looked up to see Carlos. Carlos had been her best friend ever since kindergarten when she offered him her play dough in her way of saying sorry for being a tattle tail, although Carlos had already forgotten about it. She just gave him a smile, her head felt like she had watched a series of apology videos on YouTube. He smiled back.
It only took another gaze to realise where she was. Carlos's apartment, although they were only the young age of six-teen, two amazing parents had decided that child neglect wasn't enough to satisfy their selfish desires. Why not give the kid a key and his little sister, he'll get by. Lucky for Carlos, after all the shit they've thrown at him, he already knows how to be a responsible adult. Hell, he's known ever since he was twelve.
'I cooked some pancakes, there's morning d-tox on the counter next to the tea. It's a little hot don't burn your tongue', he explained- 'also, Laura's into anime now, don't ask if she starts to talk weird.' Hazel nodded, and dragged her feet through the floor, trying to remember last night's events.
'Emi-Chan!' Laura yelled, her pigtails wavering in the air. Carlos rolled his eyes and went to wash the dishes. Hazel only lets two people call her that, Carlos and Laura, anyone else and they'd get a beating. Not from her of course.
'Um, hi Laura?' She waved back, Laura has fits where she becomes a different person in each one, last month she was the "spoiled brat" and now she's a weeb.
'Hermanita eat your breakfast before I stuff it in your mouth myself.' Carlos dead panned, eyes on a plate that reflects his face. Is he checking himself out? Hazel laughed at herself.
'No, and it's Laura-chan, thank you very much.' She replied pouting, Carlos froze, slowly turning his head to glare at her.
'es que un deseo de muerte?' (is that a death wish?) he spat, she looked terrified for a minute. Hazel laughed, no matter how long she's known Carlos, she's never understood his way of love. He can be a total dick and protect you with his own life at the same time. Carlos stopped and took a look at Hazel, his eyes showed a hint of worry, suggesting that something bad happened last night.
'Querida, it's 7:40, get ready and I'll drive.' He smiled, Hazel realised that it's Monday and she had slept in, 'Just use my clothes by the way.' People would die to have a friend like hers and she knows it.

I ended up going to school wearing his jeans that were so loose I had to use a belt, I tucked the white shirt in though the brand name still shows. One of the only things I dislike about Carlos is his taste for literally anything expensive. My eyebrows raised looking at the word Gucci on his shirt, the jeans were literally Prada, this outfit cost more than my life!
Moments after my panic attack I was interrupted by three impatient beeps from outside. 'Querida! Hurry your dumb ass up' He yelled. I mumbled but quickened my pace, practically jumping the stairs as he lives in the second block.
I took a breath stopping in front of his Porsche, he eyed me head to toe. I had black and white sneakers on that I had left in his house once, they were surprisingly clean after three months under the couch. How the fuck is it not dusty under there anyway?
'Not bad Querida, hop on.'
I climbed onto the front seat while Laura complained about being in the back.
'So about last night.' I say after a bit, trying to start a conversation.
'Yeah, about that-' he sighs, why do I feel like this is the beginning of a lecture? 'I don't want you talking to that piece of shit ever again.'
'Who?' I asked, so something did happen last night.
'William.' My eyes widened, the memory flooding in my mind. William, he basically cheated on me- we're not together but we we're definitely talking about it. Then again, he and I aren't dating so should I even be angry?
'Well he and I aren't together or anything, I'm lucky he even talks to me honestly.' I try to laugh, but it stings, I still feel betrayed. Carlos looked bewildered by my response, his grip on the wheel tightened, uh oh, was all I could think.
He was quiet after that, did I say anything wrong? Shit, what if he hates me forever? Who's going to want to be friends with my sorry ass now?? Do I die alone?
'I'msorrypleasedonthatemeI'mjustanInnocentchild,IpromiseI'lldowhateveryouwantmetodo' I yelled after Laura was dropped off. Think I'm a people pleaser? No I'm a doormat. He looked at me then just laughed, I felt myself blush, looking down at my hands that were now placed on my lap.
'Emi, your an idiot.' He said after a bit, I had the courage to look up, seeing his warm smile that coloured his eyes with pure love. 'When you figure it out, just call me. Okay?' He smiled as he got out of the car, we've arrived. 'O-okay', I nodded feeling myself red with embarrassment. How am I so lame? I got out making sure to slowly close the door on my way. He winked and I smiled then we parted ways.
