Chapter 5 - Grasping knowledge

Lisa and Keiji were trying their best to calm Hiroki but nothing was getting through him. It was like he was in a completely different space where he can’t even hear anything.

At that moment, Keiji said something that triggered an emotional state in Hiroki and he came back to his senses. Keiji said, “Are you still blaming yourself for what happened to her?” This time, Keiji wasn’t talking about Jenny.

Listening to this, Hiroki came to his senses but his eyes were filled with tears. Keiji said, “I know. You want to kill him and so do we but does it have to be right now?”

“There are people around who would be witness. We wouldn’t want ourselves to get kicked out of this place and the lady to get in trouble. We will take our revenge but with the right preparations and on right time.” Said Lisa.

Hiroki couldn’t deny with the fact that he lost his cool and was gonna act irrationally. It’s normal to get enraged when you see someone who was responsible for a bad memory in your life. Hiroki wasn’t wrong but his actions would have had undesirable consequences. Hiroki apologised to them while wiping his tears off.
Keiji, Lisa and Hiroki quickly hid themselves. The pressure that Hiroki was releasing, had stopped by then. The bandit who was coming to check the situation returned thinking that there might have been a brawl and cuz the pressure was intense but ended soon. It might have been a short brawl.

The sun would set in a few hours. They went to the library. The librarian wasn’t present there. Keiji called, “Hey… Is anybody here?”

Suddenly, an old man rushed towards them and stopped in front of Keiji.

He said, “I am happy to see you here. It has been so long since someone apart from me entered this place. But this is a library, don’t shout like that.”

Keiji went to the librarian and mumbled in his ear, “Hey… Is anybody here?”

The librarian got irritated but he couldn’t kick him out. He introduced himself, “Well, I am Jack, your librarian. Please ask me if you have a problem with finding books or understanding them.”

“Sure sir. My name is Lisa. He is Keiji and his name is Hiroki. We were sent by the old lady Samantha.” Said Lisa.

“Oo. So, Samantha sent you. I am really grateful to her that she sent you all here. I would send her some fruits and vegetables tomorrow as a gift.” Said Jack.

“We would inform her about this as soon as we get there. By the way uncle Jack, where can I find the books on mana core strengthening and basic training?” Asked Hiroki.

Old man Jack was flustered that Hiroki called him uncle and not old man but as he was about to answer Hiroki’s question, Keiji opened his mouth.

“Why are you referring to him as uncle? He looks like an old man to me.”

This irritated Jack but he kept himself composed.

He said to Keiji, “Today, you won’t be getting any snacks and juice. But you two [Hiroki and Lisa], I will prepare something tasty for you.”

Keiji’s mouth opened as if he became a corpse. Old man Jack then guided Hiroki to the place he would get the books he wanted. Keiji was still standing without a movement. Lisa shook Keiji a little but he didn’t react. Lisa left him there and accompanied Hiroki and Jack.

Jack chose a book especially for Hiroki and said to read it properly. While Lisa chose her own book and started reading. Jack went to prepare some snacks for them while Keiji was still standing at the same place. After a while, Jack came and gave them the snacks. Suddenly, Keiji came out of nowhere and whispered in Lisa’s ears.
