I'm not gonna say much right now, except... HERE'S THE SEQUEL TO SHRIEKER ISLAND!!
This first chapter is basically a recap on the events of Shrieker Island, and Marcus's growing impatience. You're probably thinking; what could Marcus possibly be impatient about?
You'll see... 😏😏
Oh! I almost forgot! Did I mention that this story contains both child endangerment AND mentions of abuse?
If not, I just did. 😺😺
.............
It's been a rather docile year.
For almost three years, the notorious Amur Leopard/Cape Buffalo mutant Fahari has ruled the literal world with his reptilian creatures dubbed "Shriekers." And Kazar was involved in this to make the matters worse.
The war was bloody. Extremely bloody. Kazar was vanquished by the rains that weren't supposed to come for a few days, Waza was thrown into the fire, killing and cremating him, and Fahari was stabbed by Marcus when the muscular mutant tried to kill Drake, his own mate. It wasn't bad enough that he killed Duke, the old and optimistic Wolf Dragon Marcus made friends with.
Never before has Marcus felt such murderous intent and hatred towards anyone... Except Kazar, obviously, who is gone for good.
Now that Kazar and Fahari were gone, the tigers went out to start their own lives. As far as Marcus knows, most of them are apprentices to an Ancient or Divine Dragon. He wouldn't be surprised if Apollo was with Longwang. Doesn't mean to say that he doesn't miss his tiger friends... Except Nyata. She's still staying with Marcus.
Overall, life in New York City has certainly took a turn for the better. The Warden Dragons on the rooftops, who have memorized every single law that humans had to abide by, were experts at their jobs. One could say that they were better than authorities in the past, before Shriekers invaded.
At least these police officers wouldn't try to put him in a lab, or locked up in a cage like a dog. Marcus HATES being in cages, cat carriers even if they were a perfect fit... He didn't like being in tight, confined spaces such as cages.
Ever since he was a pre-mutated cub, he hated cages. One time, to avoid getting eaten or worse by a rock of Murkrow, he locked himself up in a cage. He didn't think the action through. He spent almost a week in that cage, thirsty and hungry, unable to get out.
Just when he thought he was going to die, a middle aged human, who thought Marcus was an orange tabby with black stripes, unlocked him from the cage. Within a matter of days, Marcus regained the nourishment he needed, and his average body weight returned.
Marcus refuses to talk about the event today, since it doesn't bother him anymore. Mostly because DRAGONS with a heart wouldn't have the audacity to lock up the leader of the group who saved the city for their sake, for whatever reason.
That aggressive Krookodile the group met when the dragons first arrived has been showing up awful frequently, like he wanted something from him. It went on for a month, and it was beginning to irritating them all, Marcus the most.
But in that month that Krookodile visited, he got his name to leave his mouth.
It's name was... Oddly enough, Sobek, like the ancient Egyptian chaos deity associated with the Nile crocodile. How fitting. Considering Krookodile were dubbed as "Bully of the Sands."
Which made Marcus wonder, what business does a Krookodile, who usually live in sandy deserts, have in a city that has little to no sand?
The tiger mutant never spent too much time thinking about that.
