The 39th millennia, war rages across the galaxy as man is beset on all sides by enemies more numerous, more powerful and in some cases more advanced, but for 8,000 years since the emporer was enthroned humanity has held on, and their greatest protectors the space marines are at the forefront of the defense even in the farthest reaches of the imperium. One of those chapters has found a relic, older than most men can imagine, but one of much power, and danger.
The champions of humanity were not a codex complaint chapter firstoff, and being on the fringe of the known galaxy, word had yet to get out about it, whereas a complaint chapter was 1000 marines split between usually 10 main companies, the champions were a force of 1800 full Marines with 200 scouts split between 10 companies, with a further 2 armored companies of techmarines designated to their basic duties and to be the crews of all the chapters armoured units. The chapter itself is fleet based, taking a series of large abandoned defense stations found just recently in the 37th millennia by chapter scouts, along with a fleet of 10 ships, mostly smaller ships but 1 space marine batflecruiser from the days of the heresy. They orbited a barren death world largely forgotten by much of the imperium but was a good training world for aspirants. And before they'd left for the area
