ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤIF THERE WAS ONE THING WREN HATED THE MOST, IT WOULD BE WORK. The dread of having to get up from the comfort of their bed at eleven-thirty in the morning and head to work where she will be work till closing time. Which also means she won't be home until nine-thirty depending on the mess those prepubescent boys made.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤOh, yeah, those boys. No matter how much Wren tries, those boys would always try and misgender Wren. I mean, it is states on their name tag 'WREN she/they :)'. But what did she expect of teenage boys who go to the arcade to play some game their dad used to brag about after betting the last high score.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤBut Wren did get paid. . . sometimes. The owner was had always seen to 'forget' when was pay day so Wren ( and other workers ), would get their paycheck just a few days later. On top of that, she was a manager yet still gets paid the same as regular coworkers. If it wasn't for the fact Wren dressed 'differently' and lived in Florida, they would've gotten a different job.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤEach day, Wren thanks whatever lives up there for not making them live in Texas or the UK.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤAnyways, today was a Monday meaning she would be dealing with basically nobody considering it's a Monday and kids are at school. There were some occasionally mid-age couple that would come in take photos of one another, photos of them making-out, and just leave. Wren hates when people do that because they would always leave a mess somehow. She just doesn't wanna know what the couple were doing.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤToday, there was just one person in the arcade and she could've cared less what he was doing. All he did was get some coins and went to play the games. Getting paid a minimum wage wasn't enough for Wren to care about the shitty arcade.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤWren was unconsciously humming to the old dated Justin Bieber song ( says a lot when they have a fanpage of Selena Gomez ), that she didn't even notice the bang from the corner left of the room. What she did realize was the white guy standing right in front of, wearing a grey mask. Strange, but attractive. She also took in the new smell, it smelt nice.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ"Hey, so um. . . how much would it cost to repair a machine? Like uh. . . Pac-Man machine?" His voice came out as a small whimper, like a kid who wanted to seem innocent so they won't get in that much trouble.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤWren furrow her eyebrows before realizing what he meant. "Oh shoot." They move out from the front counter and walk towards the multiple Pac-Man machines. When they arrive, she noticed one machine was turned off. "What did you do?" She turns her head expecting the guy to have left, but he stood behind her with his fingers fiddled with the hem of his grey sweater.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ"Would you believe me if I said it just broke on itself?" One eye of his was squinting, was he scared that Wren was going to punch him?

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ"No? What? How did you break it? Did you punch it?" It went silent. Wren got her answer.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ"Look I'm so sorry, I-I was so close to beating the high score and then. . . well that dumb fucking pink ghost got me! It-it was like it wanted to. . . eat my ass." He muffles the last part silently.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ"And so you punched it?"

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ"More like slammed my hands on it. . . a few times." The guy watched the poor employee stand there in disbelief yet somehow they seemed to not be fazed by it. He thought maybe a lot of people did this before. "I can pay for the repair."

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤWren looks him up and down before shaking their head. "It's fine, I appreciate the generosity though."

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ"Nonononono, I have to. I feel like shit for coming in here and breaking an expensive machine, I can pay for it alright. Plus, my mom always said, 'you break it, you buy it', but I'm just paying for the repair."

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤWren always believed there was a certain element behind people actions, it what they react to it that tells you a little something about them.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤWith their eyes squinting showing off their smiling eyes, she shakes her head. "It's fine, I'll just tell my boss and he can figure it out with me." What Wren really meant was 'he's going to take out money from my paycheck to pay for the repair'.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ"Are you sure? I can cashapp– paypal, you for the repair." He felt horrible for pushing his problems onto their shoulders.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ"Truly, it's fine kid. But I think it's best if you leave.. . who knows, you might break some more machines." She jokes– it was a horrible joke.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ"Oh yeah, yeah, um. . . okay, yeah." He nods and left the arcade.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤWren stood there for a moment taking in the scent he left. Was it weird for them to be smelling the guys scent right after he left? He did smell good, like fresh pine trees mix with a freshly baked pumpkin pie. The best Wren could describe it was, a cabin in the woods with a pumpkin pie in the window seal cooling off, the smell flying through the woods, hugging the tree comfortly.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤSighing, Wren pulls out her phone to mess their boss about the broken machine. They could only imagine how pissed off he will be.
