Hi there! Welcome to the 2021 version of my heartbreak novel Pieces. I am still editing this book to prep it for publishing, but I thought I'd put a sample of the edits on here for your enjoyment; hopefully this satisfies any burning curiosity you have for the changes in my beloved characters.
I would love any and all feedback on the changes if you notice them; I don't plan to put a billboard sign up next to every change to say, "this comma wasn't here initially but peep the new aesthetic!" Here's what's new with Pieces 2.0:
- Frannie is more empowered & not quite so blind-sided
- Isaac's role is stronger
- Arrow has more autonomy and influence; his character is much darker
- Many scenes were merged (particularly ones where Arrow is missing and Frannie hunts him down like a stalker)
- The creation scene and how Arrow was made is...different.Keep an eye out for these massive changes; they won't show till a few chapters in.
I've had the hardest time editing this book because I've been so over it; it was based off my own experiences with heartbreak and heavily influenced by a guy who I liked since my elementary days. This book actually was never supposed to be read by anyone; I only wrote it to make fun of my situation when that guy broke my heart and I couldn't get over him no matter what I did. Humor is how I cope with pain. I haven't felt that pain in a while, so finding that ridiculous Frannie voice to edit has truly been a challenge.
(Being vulnerable here: I still miss him. And this book just reminds me of many thoughts and emotions I had when I thought I lost the person who was supposed to be my soulmate.)
Heartbreak is the best muse. Maybe it's time for another.
Happy reading 🥰
