BOOKS HAVE ALWAYS grasped Loki's attention, whether it was from silently watching over people's shoulder [possibly a specific person] while they held one open, or the never ending selections and title's, the hand-crafted spine's and covers -- each and every one personalized in their own way.
The sun blossomed high from the skyline, clouds murmuring along the dim blue ether.
Loki sat at an outdoor patio with crossed feet, blowing away a curl that tickled his eyelashes, his signature gold stripe headband was decorated in emerald green gems, holding back most of his locks.
Ringlets of black hair fell over his tired eyes -- his palms tightly gripped the hard-cover book, a platter of different tea's spread along the stained glass table.
Propping his legs on the neighboring chair immaturely, the ravenette kept his coiled smug look as he anticipated Y/n's daily dawn arrival to the bundle of trees just nearby. Where she frequently picks her morning flowers, two daisies, five dandelions and just one lavander bush.
He knew it like the back if his hand and lived to disturb her routine, even if he has to wake up hours earlier than usual.
As if on cue, she had emerged from the field of tall grass, head high with a blank expression on her face as she very well knew about Loki's anticipation.
At this point, it was routine. One that made her stomach bubble with annoyance.
Her eyes showed no remorse as she breezed by the man, his porcelain skin glowing in the dewy morning light. Sharp features smugly forming into a look of self-satisfaction as Y/n rolled her heavy eyes, ones that could weigh any mans heart out.
Not this one, though. These interactions made her feel like her life was cut short at least a-thousand-years.
He let out a quiet, dramatic huff, yet a smirk had rose while he sat on the metal chair, the sharp poles at the end twisting up as far as his wicked smirk.
But it had fell as soon as it was plastered on his sickeningly sweet lips, because as soon as he opened his mouth.. he got his answer.
"Yes. Yes I do mind. Now leave me alone." Quick to spin on her heel, Y/n tried and tried to ignore the man who took it upon himself to follow behind.
"You'd be surprised that I am a man of many charms.." He side eyed the girl who didn't even give him an eye roll of attention, hands properly folded behind his back in a mocking manner as he dipped down to rest his height eye-level with Y/n.
"That carrier looks heavy." His conniving tone finally made her sigh, head finally turning -- she wasn't surprised to find their faces just an inch or two apart.
"What is it you want so I can leave? I'm tired of hearing your voice." She deadpanned, not an ounce of actual question in her voice.
"You." He coo'ed, making her snarl in dissatisfaction. "Predictable." Sneering, she shook her head and snatched back the basket he teasingly reached for.
"Maybe not as predictable as I seem, Lady Y/n."
"No, no. Anyone can see your actions. Now I've got a job. Don't you?" Facing backwards to where she was headed, she rid of her pickings another woman with a small forced smile before trudging along the concrete walkways -- not a speck of dirt seen on the oak colored stepping stones.
"Question-"
"Yes the livestock has been fed well." Her eyes bored into his as he shockingly followed in her step, hands in his pant pockets with a bittersweet smile.
"Yes I see.. actually though the c-"
"The carrages have been loaded with your personalized armor and weaponry. Now you don't have anything else to do with your life? Cause if not-"
"I'm just here to see you in your ravishing morning attire of course." Sarcasm dripped off his words, Y/n then fumbling with her shirt with a rude roll of her eyes.
He smirked at the unannounced victory.
Smoothly grabbing the ladder leading to the high roof of her room, Y/n cut a turn while shoo'ing away Loki. "Now is your time to leave. I've got to change for my morning duties that just so happened to suddenly fit your schedule."
"You think-"
"Yes. Go before I make you, Prince Loki." She barked his name, shaking her head while climbing up the very few four-steps before being greeted by the lavender scent that most likely floods the outdoor seating area every sunrise..
Finally, the daredevil prince who just waltz's around with a simple nobody of the castle -- left with this uncontrollable glimmer of.. something in his eyes.
